Question about Whirlpool LGR3624JQ Gas Dryer
Our gas dryer will heat for the first 1 to 2 minutes of the cycle and then it will keep tumbling but the heat is not there. The gas line is open and the coils will glow but not heat.
Most likely cause is the gas valve coils. They will tend to work for a few minutes, until they get warm and their resistance rises. Not a big deal at all...part kit is #279834 costs roughly $20-25. The coils are the two small cylindrical parts mounted in a bracket, directly on the gas valve, one with a three wire harness, one with a two wire. To replace, simply remove the two screws holding the bracket on, remove bracket and slide the coils up and off the valve. On one of the coils there is a metal sleeve that typically will stay on the valve, but may stay stuck in the valve, just make sure the sleeve goes back on the valve. Install new coils and bracket, (the bracket has two tiny holes, which correspond with two equally tiny white tabs on the coils to help line them up) that should take care of it! Re-post if you have questions about the install, etc.
