I think for some reason there is a limit to the number of files (nb: number of files not amount of space used) that the root directory can handle. Try making folders and moving files into these to cut down on the number of root directory entries.

also Check to ensure that the USB drive is not full.

You may need to delete some content to make room - Word also creates tons of temp files in the working directory which you are saving to, so you may need to save the document to your desktop and close it, then copy the document file to your USB drive (Word automatically destroys all the temp copies it created as soon as you close the document).

I can't add files to my USB stick, it gives me read only error. I'v done running Using Registry Editor and diskpart, still the error is present. What will I do?

it is write protected which means that you cannot add anything to the usb stick
you will have to get the administrators permission to change to edit the usb stick
if you are the originator of the original entry , then go to the permissions section and change to read and write

Hi Devika,
Buy a card reader that can read your memory card and connect to the computer. (Less than $8 in Sri Lanka). Connect it to PC and insert the card to the card reader.
Download Recuva and run it. select the memory card. Try to recover the files.
Best of Luck!

My memory stick has stopped working, nothing shows up when I insert it into the computer...I need some of the files which are stored on it, do you know how I can fix it?

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you may need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive this program may help: -
Digital Photo Recovery

Usb stick not usable

Because its beyond 4Gb that's why its already detected as a disk drive.

You can still save your files here. Have you already tried?

If so, what is the exact error you are getting?

Inability to "save" on one of my 2 memory sticks.

You have probably just filled the memory stick.  or set it to read only.  does it have a little switch on it's side?

How does SanDisk 2GB allow save to?

Some USB sticks have a little switch on the side of it to "lock" the data, this makes all data read only make sure yours doesn't have one or that it is in the unlocked position.

If you want to reformat the stick, plug it into the computer, go to my computer, then right click on the drive letter and go to "Format". Pick "FAT32" as the type of file system and format.

Memory Stick error c:13:01

The problem is compatibility - or lack thereof. The older Sony cameras such as DSC-S50 (I have one), which used the original version of the Sony Memory Stick, can't read the new Memory Stick Pro - even with the "Duo" adapter.

I don't know all the specifics but it has to do with how the memory chip interfaces w/ the camera, how the data is transferred -- newer models of chips/cameras use a different, faster method for data transfer which the older cameras/devices can't do. Similar to "serial" vs. "USB" vs. "USB-2" issues with older computers.

So, sorry to say, but if you have a DSC-S50 camera like I do or similar older model, you're stuck w/ the standard Memory Sticks - which I have just discovered are very hard to find any more. I just finished a sweep of all major electronic stores/outlets in my area (silicon valley - where there's plenty of them), plus many web sites. And all you can find new, now, are the Pro/Duo chips, 1GB & up.

Anyway I hope this helps!
