Can't change image quality

For about a week, my mp780 is stuck on "fine photo pro" when I use the auto sheet feeder. Anything I print takes forever as a result. If I switch the paper source to the cassette, everything is fine. Also with the cassette as a paper source, I can change the image quality to what I want. With the auto sheet feeder, the image quality stays at fine even if I try to change it back to normal. Thanks

Thank you, but where would I find a stuck micro switch that detects the auto feeder in use?

The problem is that only "fine photo pro" is available when the paper selected is photo paper. Change source to the sheet feeder, hit the "Paper" button and then select normal paper. You'll then be able to change the quality to normal.

This is either a stuck micro switch or a software glitch. Easiest thing first. Remove software and reinstall. If still acking up Look for a micro switch that detects Auto sheet feeder in use.

The paper cassette slot will have a small button like switch i would imagine[I don't know the actual machine- these are general imaginings]
So some where near where it locks in there will be such a thing.
A look at then select your printer may have a solution- failing that Canon Support.

My incoming faxes won't print. both black ink cartridges r full

Is there any message when you try to print the faxes?

If there is an "Image Quality" message, probably the printer is set up to "Copy" in "Photo" or "Fine" mode and it needs to be set to something other than "Fine" or "Photo"
