Question about Olympus Camedia E-20N Digital Camera

1 Answer

Low battery indicator with new batteries.

With standard AA Alkalines, I can get plenty of stored viewing time but almost no picture taking function time before low battery signal and power down occurs. I have cleaned the contacts. Will purchasing lithium, NiMH or NiCd cure this?

AA alkaline batteries dont have the "power" that is require by the bigger better cameras to take and process pictures. NiMH is the best route.

I got a fine pix ax560 at a yard sale how do I charge it

The AX560 uses two standard AA batteries. You can use either disposable alkalines or rechargeable NiMHs. If you use rechargeables then you must charge them outside the camera using a separate charger.

Batteries and chargers should be available at just about any department, electronics, or office-supply store.

What is the best battery use in Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S500

The DSC-S500 uses standard AA batteries, either disposable alkalines or rechargeable NiMHs. If you use rechargeables, they must be charged outside the camera using a separate charger.

The choice is up to you. The camera will take more photos on a set of alkalines than on one charge of NiMHs, and alkalines are cheaper. However the NiMHs can be recharged and used again, while alkalines are one-use.

Unable to locate Olympus (B-01 4PE) Ni-MH rechargable batteries, for my Olympus D-395 digital camera. Unable to locate CR-V3X1 or LR6X2 at any retailer.

You don't need to use Olympus batteries. The D-395 uses two standard AA batteries, either disposables or alkalines. You should be able to find AA batteries at just about any department store, drugstore, electronics store, office-supply store, or supermarket.

Please, what batteries do I use for my Nikon CoolpixL22. Thanks for your help

The L22 takes two standard AA batteries. You may use disposable alkalines or lithiums, or rechargeable NiMHs. Don't mix them, that is, use two of the same kind. If you use rechargeables, you must charge them separately; the camera is not a battery charger. You can use any brand, though I'd stick with the major brands.

Lithiums will last longer than alkalines but cost more. Rechargeable batteries cost more and won't hold a charge as long as alkalines, but can be reused.

My canon powershot a495 has a problem. it always

Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in today's power hungry digital cameras. Some batteries may also have reached their shelf life at the store, and though brand-new right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. The one's that came with your camera are just to show you that the camera works, but as you've discovered, they'll only last for a few pictures. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with modern rechargeable batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you should see the same recommendation.
Modern rechargeable batteries have over 5 times the power density of alkaline batteries (that's right, they last up to 5 times longer than an alkaline battery. And you can recharge them over and over!). Keep in mind rechargeable batteries will save you much money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

A590is camera always indicate low batteries, even with new ones.

Which EXACT make and model of batteries are you using?

There are batteries which will fit, and there are those which actually work. If you're using cheap zinc carbon batteries, market/boot sale fakes, or generic pound store/dollar store batteries then you'll have this problem.

Your camera must use two AA size batteries, either alkaline cells (e.g. Duracell) or NiMH rechargeables. Fully charged NiMH cells will far last longer in your camera than non-rechargeable alkaline cells; according to Canon it's approximately 220 shots for alkalines and 500 for NiMH.

If you're using the correct batteries then the next thing to do is to check that the battery contacts in the camera are clean, bright and grease free, and that the same is true of the batteries. If you're using NiMH's then bear in mind that like all rechargeables the performance drops over time and eventually they need replacing, but they're widely available and not expensive.

NIMH Battery goes off after 20 shots for Nikon Coolpix L01

the camera takes just about any AA pair of batteries ... lithium will give you the most pictures .. your NiMH batteries should last longer unless they are old .. you may have one weak battery ... you can try a pair of standard alkalines to see if there is something wrong with the camera .. if those work ok then you need a new set of NiMH ... there is a new type out called "eneloop" .. they are just like normal NiMH except they dont go dead when you store them .. even after a year they are still charged .. with normal NiMH batteries as they age they will self discharge in 2 weeks or so .. so you have to charge them just before you use them ..otherwise they go dead on their own .. if you charge them then not use them for a week then you will not get nearly as many pictures ... the eneloop batteries fix that .. you can also recharge them many more times than standard NiMH batteries .. they cost about the same ..
