Can you specify the unit? Is there insufficient volume? All sources, phono-only? Is 50 the maximum it will read or does the indicator start at high minus numbers and top out at -50? Clues please.

Does your unit have a MUTE control? Sometimes they provide partial muting. Disable it.

Tip

My amp keeps TURNING off and on.

If it just started, you have an equipment or wiring problem. Check the wires first, that's easy. Otherwise, the amp may be bad, check the warranty if its new. Maybe you can get a replacement.

If it's always happened, some cars have an factory amp for the rear factory speakers hidden in the wiring. Sometimes between body panels. If you didn't bypass that, you're more than likely blowing out the new amp with too much power causing it to shut itself down. (protected mode or keep blowing fuses) Could be a blown speaker, bad ground, internal damage, RCA cable problem, the list goes on and on. Find out the preoutput voltage of your headunit and set the gain to what that is and nothing else LEAVE IT THERE, the gain isnt a volume knob for your amp its to get the amp and the radio on the same page (i.e. radios at 50% volume and so is the amp) if you turn it down too low that will make the amp very sensitive to volume adjustments and your amp will be at 100% while the raidos at like 50 or 75% and once you go past the 50 or 75 on the radio the amps going to keep trying to play higher even though its already maxing out which is going to cause it to clip and cause distortion untill it goes into protect mode. Hope this was helpfull to some one

High pitch noise from speakers

Hello there!
Sometimes High pitching its just that, static on the area, like if you are near a microwave, or near other electronic equipments, but, if the skreetching sound keep going or even if you do nothing it could be a line inside the sound card, or you need to clean the volume botton with special electrical cleaner. other that these, its contacts, or bad cap for the volume board inside.
Good Luck!

Volume wont go past 50

this sytem is unable to go past 50 and because its only 80 watts it wont get louder.
80 watts is divided by all the speakers
so a 5.1 system gives 20 watts to the woofer and 15 watts to each of the other 4 speakers.
plus its in rms (root means square)
which means you loose some wattage in fricton so take another 25 to 50 % of the wattage.
so all this said you get what you pay for.

Scratching sound from earphones at high volumes

Sounds like the beginnings of a rubbing voice coil in your MX160. Verify this by trying another set of headphones on your amplifier/MP3 player/etc. If the "scratching" sound disappears then your music source is not the fault. PLEASE REMEMBER...never turn music source volumes up past 60-65% (think of 1:00-1:30 on a clock face). If these setting are not loud enough, use a booster or move up to a unit with more audio output power. On a larger scale...How did I blow my 100 watt speakers with a 50 watt amp? It's easy....clip (overdrive) your amp....Glen

Try pulling out the power cord for a few minutes and then plug in again. This should reset the default settings and get the volume going. It worked for us twice. Good Luck!

Corrupt DB, firmware to reolve on creative website

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
