Yea, I know. This is distracting. But there is really a lot of behind the scenes activity going on. If you have more than one program open or on the tray- it may being doing things like checking for automatic downloads, monitoring other programs and that sort of thing. You can keep this a minimum if you turn off most of the programs in startup. Make sure not to turn off you AntiVirus but other than that you can just about clear the deck... A very easy to do this is to download a free program call cCleaner within this program you have the option to say what start to run and what doesn't.
Hope this helps...if you want to see the many programs running in the background push control (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) once and hit the Pocesses Tab ---you'll be amazed...
Good luck ...have fun

Each time I plug in the USB cable I get a blue screen. I am running Windows 7. I am trying to load maps onto the Triton 400.

Don't bother with the 400 on a Win7 machine even though Magellan claims it will work. I also keep getting a bad pool header blue screen on mine even though I've updated everything I could. The best thing to do is to either setup a dual boot system with WinXP and only plug it in while running XP (Don't bother with XP mode in Win7) or have a second system that's dedicated to XP and run Vantage point from it like what I run now from my laptop.

The whole problem is caused by the Triton driver and for some reason Win7 doesn't like it all that much. Vantage Point does run great inside Win7 but as soon as you plug in the Triton, that's when it all starts to screw up.

All we can do is wait until Magellan gives us a proper working driver.

I keep getting a Bad Disk error when loading DVDs that I know are fine. When there's no disk loaded, all I see is the blue load screen with the message "loading" in the upper left

there is a ribbon cable in the DVD player that connect the moving laser head to the main circuit board. When this cable becomes damaged from moving over time, it will claim that your DVD is bad (even though it is not). Best to scrap the player and buy a new one.

No icons..nothing!?!

Try resetting the desktop. Right click on the desktop, click properties, then open the desktop tab. Change the desktop picture and see if that works. If it doesn't try a system restore. You will be able to access the start menu by pressing the windows key. If these don't work you'll need to run a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc.
