Yea, I know. This is distracting. But there is really a lot of behind the scenes activity going on. If you have more than one program open or on the tray- it may being doing things like checking for automatic downloads, monitoring other programs and that sort of thing. You can keep this a minimum if you turn off most of the programs in startup. Make sure not to turn off you AntiVirus but other than that you can just about clear the deck... A very easy to do this is to download a free program call cCleaner within this program you have the option to say what start to run and what doesn't.
Hope this helps...if you want to see the many programs running in the background push control (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) once and hit the Pocesses Tab ---you'll be amazed...
