Question about JVC KD-SX980 CD Player

1 Answer

Converting dc to ac

I have a JVC KD-SX980 CD player and changer that I have not been able to use after removing them from my old car. I read somewhere that it was possible to connect an auto unit to ac110V via a converter. Is it possible? If so, what do I need and where can I find instructions. Thanks, Alina

Re: Converting dc to ac

You need a DC power supply of at least 8 amps (20 would be better). Try MCM:

2 cd's in cd player

get a medium to large paperclip and make a really short 90 degree bend in the end of it with pliers so it looks like this _________' <make this really short Insert this at bottom of the cd opening angled toward the top of the player. When you think you are about over the hole of the cd, push down and pull toward you gently...if you persist at this you will get the edge of the cd that's not engaged to stick out of the front of the player enough to grab it. It'll take some patience so keep at it and you will get it done. Hope this helps you!

your ac-dc converter is not properly shielded or grounded, you need to replace it with a good one.(or you may wire you cd player chassis to a grounding receptacle, most ac outlets the center plugs are the ground terminals)

some car cd-player has a memory circuit, that will remembers on what state it was before power was remove, like yours it will play again as soon power is applied to it..

Turns on then off right away

Hello headbanger42,

First I'd check all of the wiring and connections. Make sure that there's no bare wires, no cut or frayed insulation and no wires contacting metal on the vehicle or other wires.

If everything is connected properly and there's no shorts, press the reset button on the panel holder using a ball-point pen after detaching the control panel. (The clock setting and preset stations stored in memory will be .)

If that does not work, there's most likely an internal fault and the receiver needs service.

Hope this helps.
