Question about IBM ThinkPad T40 2373 Notebook

1 Answer

Once I have logged on and I am working on one of the various programs the start menu disappears. The only way that I can get the start menu back is to restart the computer and then it disappears again. Without the start menu I can get any of the programs. What is wrong and how do I fix this? It is a IBM PC ThinkPad T40. I have tried putting the mouse where the start menu is but it is not there.

This is not a problem with your T40.

This is a configurable options in Windows.

You can program the start menu to disappear and reappear when you bring the mouse in close proximity to the area where your start menu has been configured to appear, either on the bottom, left, right, or top of the desktop and which feature can be reconfigured by left clicking on the initial appearance or a subsequent appearance of the start menu and indicating your preference.

Log into your router's administration page (typically at http://192.168.1.1 by default). There will be a menu with options for various admin tasks. Change password will be listed as an option. If you do not know your admin password to log into the website, you can do a factory reset on the router to blank it back to 'out of the box' settings by unplugging the router and holding in the reset button on the back for 5 seconds while powering on the router. Once reset you should be able to log in with a username of admin and password of password. Once in after the reset the router will walk you through the initial setup steps again and you can choose a new password.

Key on display wont start

Your washer is in the "child lock" mode, hence it won't allow any program. Press the "menu" button until you see "CHILD LOCK :ON" appear in the display. If nothing is pressed within 10 seconds.following this the menu will close and it will default to program in the display. Once you see that in the display, press the "select" button until "CHILD LOCK :OFF" appears in the display. Finally by pressing the start/pause button the key symbol should disappear - confirming you have successfully exited the child lock program.

Pl click if helped.

How to repair a registry on Windows XP Pro

The malware probably corrupted your profile. Log into Safe Mode as administrator by restarting the computer and tapping the F8 key until the menu comes up. Select Safe Mode and hit Enter. You should have the option to log in as administrator.

Once you're logged in, go to C:\documents and settings and find your profile folder (it will likely have your name on it). Rename it and add OLD to the end (ie: SmithOLD). While you're logged into safe mode, I would also run another malwarebytes scan as Safe Mode turns off additional services and applications that could be hiding malware. Once you're done reboot.

When Windows loads normally, you should be able to log in as yourself and Windows will create a brand new profile. Your desktop, favorites, and icons will be gone but don't worry. Once you're logged in, go back to C:\documents and settings\ and the OLD folder. All of your old desktop files, favorites, and My Documents will be in there.

The child lock in on on my Bosch classixx 6 1200. I don't know how to disengage it

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by saying your post indicates it is a Bosch classixx and the "child lock" selection has been activated, either intentional or accidental.

To reset it is as follows...

1) Press the "menu" button until you see "CHILD LOCK :ON" appear in the display. ( if nothing is pressed within 10 sec.following this the menu will close and it will default to program in the display )

2) Once you see what I just mentioned in the display press the "select" button until "CHILD LOCK :OFF" appears in the display.

3) Finally by pressing the "start/pause" button the key symbol should disappear confirming you have successfully exited the child lock program.

**Many times you can also push and hold the start key for several seconds and this too will deactivate the selection...on various models**

Let me know if this was helpful to you or not, if so please take a second and rate it accordingly and a short testimony is also appreciated. Thank you for choosing FixYa.

My washing machine is beeping and showing the key light and not turning on. The door opens though but it seems to be saying its locked!? It doesn't show the cycle time either. How can i get it to go...

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by saying your post indicates it is a Bosch, but you didn't specify the model number. It sounds like the "child lock" selection has been activated, either intentional or accidental.

To reset it on many Bosch it is as follows...(if this fails, please provide your model number)

I'll need to watch for your reply if that doesn't work or before moving forward.

Acer 5315 not working after I log on!!!

There are a couple of different ways you may have lost your icons. They could have disappeared when you installed a certain program or even when you upgraded to a new operating system.
To enable those icons and more, right click on your desktop and choose Properties. Click on the Desktop tab and hit the Customize Desktop button. Next, under the General tab, check off any of the icons you want to appear on your desktop.
Once you do that, they will all be returned to your desktop in full view. You can choose from the icons of My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places and Internet Explorer. Now, on the other hand, you may want to take some of those icons off your desktop. If that's the case, just uncheck them and they will be out of your way.

Boot up your PC then when the bios screen disappears press F8 (to give you menu options like safe mode) one of these options is a vista repair option.....choose that and your pc should boot into windows properly....I believe this is a corrupt winlogon.exe....
