Re: Help

Sounds like the micro-processor took a surge. It's not a cheap fix ($100 +).

Being 120 v0lt was pluged into a 220 volts does it have a fuse or braker? it does not work

if you plugged it in without putting a step-down transformer in between the two, you have likely killed your 120 system.

This F-61 error is a hell of a problem i've tryed replaceing the fan wit a new one,, didn't work then i put the old fan back and it works but still nothing but this f-61 (I unpluged everything in...

Have you tried it with no speakers attached? Was it overheating? If not, why replace the fan?

F61 usually means the amp has detected a short or a severe microprocessor error.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on; or it may turn on but produce no audio to the speakers.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Lid Closure

OK - There is nothing that drives the door to close and stay closed. There is a little plastic gismo the locks onto a little protruding tongue in the lid keeping it closed. To release the lid, you must press the lid foreward so that it releases the lock in the little plastic gismo. I found this out only after removing the board above the main deck of the player and which, fumble-fingers me, I managed to damage the board and will have to replace it along with the little plastic gismo that holds the door closed. I am not sure if either of these parts are available as I have had the unit for quite a while. This leaves me in a quandry as I really did like the little player. It was a dandy. So, if you ever get an inquiry on how to keep the lid closed on a JMC_800, tell them to replace the little plastic gismo and that will do it.
