Look on the carb for two spring loaded screws, they may have a plastic cover over them. look where these to screws go into the carb, you should see an "H" by one, and an "L" by the other, stamped in the carb. Open the "H" one about 1/4 turn at a time with the engine running, that should fix it.
(you may need to remove the plastic covers to be able to turn the screws, you can throw that away)

I have a featherlite FL20 weedeater that will start but will stop running as soon as I move it from full choke to half choke. I didnt have any problem until I ran it out of gas a week or so ago. Do you...

It seems like it is the carbaretor. There is a diaphram in there which is rubber. After awile it tends to get a bit hard so it will not pump the fuel into the carb. There are a few gaskets too that get worn out. If you buy a carb kit everything is included. The carb is probly a bit dirty too. I hope this helps you out.

Will not run without choke on

wspring2, this is common with these machine, check you're carb adjustments. Low speed (closest to engine ) 1 and a quarter turns out, high speed 1 and a half out counter clockwise. You may have to put diaghram kit in carb. But if you have gotten a season or 2 out of it, probably not worth repairing. Sorry, hate to be the bearer of bad news, hopes this helps ya.

Weedeater dies when you open choke

After you start it and are in the second stage of the choke (half choke ) let it run for awhile until it warms a bit then try openning choke and going to full throttle.

My Weedeater FL1500 blower starts set at full choke(stop position) but stalls at half choke. I replaced the fuel lines but have not attached the fuel filter, which I thought might be clogged.

The featherlite is notorious for the intake seals to leak, Thats the one behind the little plastic manifild. This machine vibrates terribly and usually shakes itself to death. JUst test by shaking the carb while its attached to the engine, any movement shows there is a leak. The engines are like people they allways look for the easyiest way, therefore if there is a place to get air, it will pull it from there, causing it to run lean

What is the gas/oil mixture ratio for the featherlite gas weedeater?

its a 40:1 ratio. remember to never tap the tap-n-go too hard or it will bend the shaft, and make the head hot to the touch, and eventually will melt the inside. And always keep fuel stabilizer in the gas, because if you dont, especially in winter and fall, it will clog the carb so you have to keep pumping the throttle to keep it running and you have to run it on half choke all the time

good luck!
