Is the PC still under warranty? If it is then give them a call to fix it free. Otherwise repair the OS by the restore/emergency disc provided by the manufacturer. Make sure your OS has been activated by the manufacturer. Then try updating the PC.....sodeep

My HP pavilion is not getting any video. It powers up, but no error beeps or video.

Is the media player been updated lately? if so you can try and re vert back to a day you knew they system worked or unisntall the recent update and see if it works. If an update or a revert on an update does not get it going you may have a bad video card. Have you tried this with both the windows media player and real video player? Try down loading either an update to your current medai player or download the many free ones on the web. If this fails I suspect the video card may be bad or dissabled.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3120us Entertainment Notebook. A update came from HP for the BIOS and while installing the update, it will not finish. Its frozen at 100% can you assist?

your options are wait for it to complete. Or power cycle it and hops it froze on downloading, and not during installing.

Manually download the bios update yourself and then flash it manually if it does come back up.

If the computer fails to boot up then you will need to use a recovery bootdisc and then to apply the bios update again manually as opposed to doing it in windows.

Nothing working when on main screen, running crazy slow, some updates will not download, xp will not download sp3 or internet explorer 8.

Most likely cause is malware. You can try to remove the malware with a program like malwarebytes. I would probably back up anything important to an external hard drive and then re-install the computer. There should be a restore image on this computer (if it has not been reloaded with a windows disk in the past). When you boot up, on the HP splash screen, look for what function key (I believe it is F11) starts the restore partition.
Once you have started the restore partition, do a full factory restore. This will wipe out any issues and restore the computer back to the way it was when you first opened the box. Any new software, updates, hardware, ect will need to be re-installed.

HP update

I had been having this same issue on my Windows Vista Ultimate - 64-bit computer at home. The HP Update process would run and display about three or four failed installations. I ended up logging onto HP's website and searching for HP Update, and came across a version update - 4.0.12.

I downloaded the 4.0.12 version, installed it and re-ran the updates. Everything worked as planned.

While I didn't read anything specific on HP's site, I'm guessing the failed installs has something to do with the HP Update client itself, and version 4.0.12 fixes those problems.

You can get the 4.0.12 versions here:
