Insignia NS-7PDVD portable DVD player - no picture

I have a Insignia NS-7PDVD portable DVD player which does not display any picture. It shows the CD/DVD is loading and then the screen turns green. Sometimes I can watch & listen to DVD's (1 out of 10 times I try) for 5 5-10 minutes and then the screen is green and no audio. Please advice. Thank you very much.

The unit is failing and is not worth repairing. There is either a short in the wiring that leads to the screen, the inverter board os failing, or the decoder is failing. These are all hardware problems.

There are several tests to find where the problem may be, but the average consumer doesn't have the ability or access to parts to fix these issues.

Insegnia NS-7pdvd portable dvd player regional lock

There is software, such as "ANYDVD" that should work. Also, "DVD Region and CSS free" software about $40 US. There is free software called "DVD Region Killer" as well (I have no experience with the free downloadable software).

Very Dark Picture

The backlight is dead.

The screen is shot since this is an integrated LCD and backlight. If you can find another screen of similar size you might be able to swap parts out...but it's unlikely.
