Phillips MX3600D home theater systems shuts off during a movie \, have to power off and wait for 5 minutes before i can turn it on again...

I have the same problem. The only time that I can get it to work is whenever I turn on the cable box the home theater system turns on too. When I use the DVR it will turn it on too and want to play the CD/DVD. I have a Comcast Motorola DCH3416 DVR box.

I had the same problem and of course my system is out of warranty. If you open the system up most likely you will see portions of a board near the fan burned up.
