Question about Toshiba Satellite P15-S479 Notebook

WiFi Connectivity Problems

I recently replaced the hard drive in my machine and am in the process of reinstalling programs, drivers, etc. However, it still fails to recognize that there are any networks in range. I've gone through the Toshiba support page to no avail. I've checked to make sure the wireless adapters are running in computer management>services and that the drivers are updated via the device manager. Before I replaced the hard drive, it worked automatically without any problems. Any suggestions? Thanks! (note: my machine is a Toshiba Satellite P15-S409 laptop; it did not appear in the product listing below).

Benimur, thanks for your help. You were right, it was due to not having the correct driver, however the problem was that I had re-installed the system with the disc from another computer.

I had tried manually downloading the drivers from Toshiba initially, but for some reason, a couple weren't working. (Including the wifi). Now that I reinstalled from the correct recovery disc, everything is working perfectly. Thanks for your help!

Hi, On several instances of this type problem, I normally suggest to check the particular WiFi Networking card that is used by the Toshiba laptop. This could be done by going to the Device Manager under Networking adapters. Thereafter go to the website of the chipset/wifi manufacturer and check if they have a connection utility. Sometime Windows WiFi Configuration utility fails to detect the existing network. You may have to use the config utility of the manufacturer. A method of verifying if your WiFi is working and if it can detect the network around it is by downloading, installing and running NetStumbler. Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

    Hi DrCereal,

As long as the OS installed completely, the drivers can and may be un-installed and replaced with correct ones. For your Toshiba Satellite P15-S409 laptop, the Toshiba site specifies an Atheros driver

As initially posted, Windows WiFi Configuration Utility sometimes does not work outright hence Toshiba posted their own WiFi Configuration Utility

Most if not all the drivers are availablae at

The adds are posted this way since this site truncates the address. Just join them up.

How do i reset to factory settings on the toshiba satellite L25-S119

Hi bigbro1610...

To set you computer back to factory fresh settings you will need to format the hard drive and reinstall the operatins system and the drivers.
You will need to have the CD's that either you made when you got your computer or if your lucky you got the CD's that the factory furnished with the computer at the time you bought it.
Format the hard drive:
You do this by double left clicking on "My Computer",then double left click the main drive (normally C drive).
When the window pops open, you will choose "Format"
Keep in mind that once you format your hard drive you will loose all your files, programs, pictures, etc that you installed since the computer was new. So make your back up on a portable hard drive, thumb drive, etc.
2. Once the formatting of the hard drive is complete you will need to reinstall the operating system along with the drivers.
That will bring your computer back to factory new condition as far as operating is concerned.

Wireless connectivity is it possible on the EL1352G

Greetings - Looking at the specs of the machine at the E-Machines website it doesn't appear to have any internal slots for a WiFi card upgrade.

However, there are plenty of USB ports available and an inexpensive USB WiFi dongle ($15-20 USD) would work just fine. Doesn't matter which one, as long as it has drivers for Windows 7 (which would be any recent USB WiFi hardware).

Regards and thanks for using Fix Ya.

Computer running slowly

Wen you say the computer is running slowly, do you mean the overall programs or just Internet (browser)???

If it's the computer, first check all components (RAM, HARD DRIVE, NETWORK CARD, etc...) than check for VIRUS, MALWARE, SPYWARE, etc..

If it's the Internet connection, first check the modem connectivity, the router's connectivity, wiring, wireless connectivity, etc..., call your Internet provider to make sure they don't have any connection problems, do a speed test, (

You can, and it's really easy!
Go to this site and download the software under drivers called "HP Officejet and Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X v 10.6".
Unplug your all in one printer/scanner and install the program. Then plug the printer/scanner back in and it should work fine - you'll have all the options you had previously.

My Laptop is running very slow and it is often giving problems with my sound.

try running ccleaner, download and install from above web page.
run the cleaner to delete old files and clutter, run registry to tune windows.
In tools section go into start-up and disable all programs, and then any programs that need to start on switching on will still start, but normally lots of other programs start up that dont need to, stopping these from starting up will speed up your laptop. Don't woory about disabling programs, when you want to use them they will start as normal

How to reformat acer aspire one

Put a Windows XP disk (has to be the full version not an upgrade) into the CD drive and the computer will ask to "press any key to boot from CD". Press a key. Follow the prompts, It is important to delete the partition when asked. Then recreate it. Format the drive with NTFS file system. The setup will go on to reinstall windows automatically.

Now, the only challenge is to reload any software drivers for components Windows does not find automatically. This is a little tricky. Do google search of Acer drivers or go to

Also, remember all your software programs need to be re-installed. For example, your Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc). Any games, any virus protection, Quickbooks, etc. The printer software also needs to be re-installed. Hopefully you still have the original disk or if its a Hewlett Packard go to their website.

Smart failure predicted on hard disk 4

Yes usually that error means that the hard drive is telling the controller card that there are some problems with the drive.

Although the drive may still work, it is highly recommended to replace it with a new drive.

I would replace the drive but keep the old drive just in case, after re-installing Vista you find that there is additional data you did not backup or remember to backup.

Just replace the drive, and if it's a Dell laptop, use the Dell Vista reinstallation DVD, and it will not ask for a keycode to reinstall.

May also want to go to another computer and go to and click Drivers and Downloads. Type the service tag and go ahead and download all drivers needed (i.e. network card, sound card, etc.) so after you reinstall Vista, if there are any drivers missing you will be ready to install them.

Hope this helps.

Freecom hard drive problem?

Unless you "GHOST" or "CLONE" the programsd over to the harddrive, instead of just copy and paste, they will not open. What you will have to do mo0re than likely is remove the installation files through control panel and reinstall the program onto the external harddrive.
