I have a dell inspiron 1150 laptop and when i try and play music or video, no sound will come out. system sounds like the start windows theme and alerts work. I have tried the troubleshooting that was on the comp, but none of it helped. I looked the sound and audio/video codecs, and they all say that they are working fine. I am stumped and need help, please?

Sounds like you have too many programs running at once, try to shut down programs that you are not using, this will open up more memory because video and music takes a lot of your 3mg memory. If it still does not work you will have to upgrade to higher memory. You must have 3GB memory, 3MB memory sound too small.
to convert music from cassett to disk u need to connect the cassett player headphone jack / line out jack to ur PC/laptop mike / line in jack....then play the music and record it in a software(Nero Sound editor etc)
then once that's done save it as mp3 file on to ut PC and trf it to ur cd/disk....u can just copy it as mp3 or create a music cd using Nero...from the mp3 file
the difference is if u just copy the mp3 on to the cd then only a mp3 player/mp3 music system deck can play it... if it's created as a music cd then any cd player can play it....just like any music cd that u buy in the mkt...
a 700 mb disk can hold almost 7 to 10 hrs of music in mp3 format....
but a music disk can hold only 80 mins of music
Hallo! my laptop is an HPdv2700 i recently installed an XP operating system after previous using vista and suddenly my Audio device on high definition Audio bus is missing. so, I cant play video or listen to music... can u please help me solve this problem!
Open the device manager and check to see if the audio drivers are there. Any device that needs drivers will have a yellow question mark next to them. If they aren't there, you will need to go to Dell's support site and download them. If they are, then unistall the audio/sound drivers and reboot. The machine will find the sound card and reinstall the drivers. With some sound drivers, but not all, they do not automatically adjust the sound settings, leaving the volume very low or muted, therefore you may need to manually adjust the sound settings.
Your laptop should have a sound card built into the board. To make sure, check for three round color coded holes anywhere along the edge of your laptop frame and ports. The Sound output is usually green. The sound in is blue and the mic in is red. If you plug in speakers n the green and don't here music, then check to see your SOUND DRIVERS are installed. If they are not no sound will play. The check for Sound drivers, right-click My Computer, then chose HARDWARE and let it list the components. Any one with a yellow mark needs drivers.
