Incorect line of colour from one edge to the other

OKI C5100n
My printer has started to print a line of incorrect colour from short edge to short edge. The text should be printed in gren but it is printing out in blue about 1cm wide. I have cleaned (with wipes) the optics, I have tried a new fuser and belt but the problem is persisting.

Hi, I Have swapped the yellow and magenta drum position and the text has printed a very purple colour, not blue. Does that change anything?

    Thanks for your earlier reply.

I am presuming the rest of the page prints the correct colour and this is an area in the direction of feed that is missing yellow. Try swapping the yellow and magenta drum positions and then the green text should come out a very dark blue colour. if it does then the fault is with the YELLOW drum, if there is still a noticeable Cyan stripe still then the fault will be with the LED head or engine control board.

Hi, if the text colour is now consistant across the page the fault is with the Yellow drum. The purple is the mix of Cyan and Magenta instead of the mix of Cyan and Yellow that creates the green text. by moving the yellow drum and substituting the magenta this has proved that the LED head, belt and electronics are ok. There is a flap on the YELLOW drum to protect the light green coloured cylinder try gently moving this out of the way to check for any foreign objects that may prevent the image being formed on that part of the drum. be careful not to scratch the drum as this will give marks on your page.

The blue color is not printing correctly. It comes out sort of pink and greens are yellow. I have a new balck drum. I have put in a new blue toner cartridge. I have tried adjusting color saturation. ...

create a doccument with four identical lines of text.
the text should be as follows:
your text in the colour Black, the cyan, then yellow then magentta
see if they print in the colours you used, if they are all wrong then delete all drivers associated with the printer and delete the printer, then follow the install proceedure again to reinstall, if just one colour is wrong the it is most likely a deffective cartridge.

Vertical stripes

It sould be the print heads have gone bad.
I just had a Dell color laser that would print a 1" wide yellow line down the right side of the paper.
Replaced the print head unit, and problem solved.

My semi-educated guess would be that your transfer belt unit is getting close to the end of it's time - This is Part No. 351002.

Oki c5100n printing yellow color offset

What is the stats % of drums if low under 50% change them, soon as you add non Gen you throw a spanner in any attempt to fault find, fix is possible toner more than likely drum/drums, do a print of each colour and change drums as indicated by failure in its colour to print, check transport belt is OK and led heads are clean

Oki c5100n printing colors offset

posted by Halfwalkeer on Nov 13, 2007 Report abuse

Just replaced the color toner cartridges in the c5100N, two OKI (cyan and yellow) and one non-OKI (magenta). Now it appears that registration is completely off.

When printing an image, there is a band of yellow at the top about 6mm high, and a band of purple (not cyan) at the bottom about 6mm high. It seems that the yellow printing LED array is printing offset. I've verified this with a typical test page that shows yellow blipped up by several mm.

What the hell happened ? How can I fix it ?

Thanks -

Dean.
Comment by Halfwalkeer, posted on Jan 02, 2008 Drums are all at 34%. Please don't tell me that the drums only have a 50% lifetime on them, because that would just suck royally. When you say the problem is most likely drums, in what way ? What could have gone wrong ?

I was able to more or less fix the problem ... It took several iterations of ColorMenu->Adjust Registration followed by Maintenence Menu->Menu Reset, but it was finally able to pull the registration back into line.

I got worried at one point - after it was "fixed" the printer was powered off. Upon powerup again, registration was off by several centimeters ! Another round of the above finally "fixed" it again, but I haven't powered it down again.

It was a cheap printer. Maybe this is why ...

Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 02, 2008 I was thinking about the band of yellow being caused by cleaning blade wearing on drum, drums are garenteed by oki if over 50 %, under that one is on their own ie purchase new if having problems with them

If you can fix problem doing colour calibration then faulty drum is not likely the issue.

Cant stress how many problems are caused by non gen consumables in machines, highly dont recommend their use.

Yellow Lines on every print

If the optics are clean (use lint free cloth on 4 rows of black thingys underside of lid)

Then it sounds like the yellow drum needs to be replaced, when printing in word I'm guessing that you have it set to B/W prints hence no colour is engaged, no lines
