Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t 14.1" Notebook Laptop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, D... PC Notebook

I have had my hp dv2700 notebook for a little over a year now and it gets pretty hot also. It does this thing where its internal fan revs up over and over sometimes for 15 minutes...when returning from sleep mode. i have an intel core 2 duo, t7250, with 2ghz of memory. It works wonderfully other than the getting pretty warm from time to time. Basically, all I did was get a targus laptop (dual) fan and now it rarely gets to that super hot point. DONT put your laptop on a pillow, or bed, or carpet while using it for extensive periods...as with any laptop it just needs to breath to function. i would suggest the dual fan though...whenever it starts getting a little warm....turn on the fan and put a folder or something hard under the fan so the ventallation is there. this will do the trick....assuming you aren't having multilple problems with your hp dv2000.

Even i am also having HP pavilion dv 2700 and purchased 1 and half back. My battery is not charging properly and engineer said the problem with motherbaord. I dont know how HP doing such kind of poor designing. after 6 months from the purchase the hard disk is correpted and all my data gone and could not be able to recover. Thank god my laptop was under warranty...

Hope HP is purposefully doing this kind of design... some of my friend having IBM and DELL and they never faced any problem with their laptop.

If your computer still works, turns on and boots the OS. Then it's most likely just the fan it's self that is bad.

It is set up to run if CPU gets warm/hot. Quiet normal.

Hp pavillon is roasting hot fan working but not cooling any ideas

Put something between the table and the notebook PC so that there is some ventilation. This might cool down the notebook. That is what I do for my Thoshiba laptop. Another option is you can buy something that is made specifically for this purpose. It is a small square shaped plastic sheet like thing which as a few small fans in it. The fan takes it power from usb port. The whole thing is about 7or 8(maybe even lesser) mm thick. Price around $20. Or else buy the smallest fan that runs on 110v (if your normal power is 110V AC) you can get and put it behind the notebook facing outwards. Idea is to exhaust the hot air from the surrounding of the notebook.

Laptop getting very hot

Make sure that the internal fan is cycling or working. if this fan is not running, it will allow the laptop to reach unsafe temperatures that will damage the circuitry over time.

Replace the cooling fans if they are not functioning.

HP Pavilion dv2000

I have a 3 year-old DV2000 that recently has been overheating and shutting itself down. I installed a program called Core Temp to see if it was overheating. After switching it on, the temperature would quickly climb to about 80ºC at idle and go above 90º if I used the internet or any program that required a lot of processing. I saw the temperature go up to 100ºC whilst using Skype yesterday, at which point the computer switched off and I had to let it cool down for a while before switching it back on. It was also running incredibly slowly at times and I was worried it might have a virus.

Today I finally found a can of compressed air (hard to find here in Bogota) and sprayed some into the air vents at the back left-hand corner (this took about 2 minutes). When I switched the computer on, the temperature was stable at 55ºC and has reached a maximum of 60ºC under load. Right now, it is at 58ºC and is running much faster than it was before. The product I used is called "Air Express" (made in Mexico) and it is basically a canister of compressed air.
