Question about Computers & Internet
I have a Vista 64 computer. I am trying to load frequencies from Scancat into my RS Pro-164 scanner using the 20-047 cable from RS. I was told that the cable would work. It doesn't. No drivers are present nor does the system seem to be able to retrieve them from the web. What do I need to do to load frequencies into my RS scanner using the RS 20-047 cable ?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

First, drivers for this machine are no longer on the HP website, but are linked to the HP website via FTP at this site:
Click to "allow downloads" if your browser blocks the connection. I did test the link to make sure it was live.
As to Vista, I'm sad to say that my research indicates that these units will not work reliably on Vista, and that HP plans no new drivers for them. This is one of the biggest problems with Vista. In this case, you not only are dealing with printer port to USB cables (which can be made to work, though I don't think I would advise trying to "daisy chain" them (as you had them before) with adapter cables), but with no Vista drivers either. Some people have stated that they have gotten XP drivers to work, but this is, in my experience, a long shot and hit-or-miss proposition.
Given the low cost of new equipment and the fact that you already own the Vista PC, I'd advise you that the safest and least-likely-to-have-you-pulling-your-hair-out-solution is to buy replacement equipment.
Good luck and please let me know if this helps.

When you don't have the drivers-cd:
- Download the XP-drivers of your webcam (and unpack them if they are zipped).
Else start with these steps
1. Uninstall whatever webcam driver you have previously attempted to install.
2. From the device manager, scan for new hardware, and your webcam will be recognized and will continue to search for a driver.
3. If asked for for further search.. choose the place where it must search (cd or your downloaded driver-map)
4. Just allow the prompts to continue with the installation.
5. When the driver is successfully installed, you can test it right away.
