This is usually a signal that a virus is at work. Check that your computer has been checked and is clear. Then check your thumb drives-all of them including your external hard drives.
If your laptop was running windows XP that would explain the problem, when you upgraded to window 7 you found that some of the drivers were not supported. The only option, go into the Acer site, go to download drivers to see if your laptop supports windows 7, if no! contact customer support and the technical department.
Check your system for any virus. Yahoo M 9 gives lots of problem from my personal experience. Its designed for Vista..So I recommend better stay with YM 8.
Just a small correction to the above: MediaMonkey does not have a worm or virus in the installer. It's certified by both download.com and softpedia as virus free, and as Release Manager for MediaMonkey, I can vouch for the fact that it is scanned prior to every release.
