I have the same set - it's the Power Supply located inside the set - upper left looking from the back of the set.

The capacitors on the board are shot and need to be replaced so PCB needs to be removed and sent for repair.

Several eBay sources for this repair HOWEVER the connectors are hot-glued in and are very fragile therefore difficult to remove w/o damaging the PCB. As an alternative, get a heat-gun and warm up the connectors before attempting to remove the stubborn ones. Also, a craft-knife w/narrow, sharp edge helps but may damage the connectors.

Recommend paying a TV repair shop to remove the PCB for you - MARK THE CONNECTORS FOR LATER RE-INSERT - then send the PCB for repair - reinstall yourself when it is returned.

Samsung plasma tv made a really loud pop and the screen and sound do not work but the red power light won't come off unless the tv is unplugged what happened?

The main power supply regulator board has the fault. Check if any electrolytic capcitor/s has bursted out. Replace them if any. If this do not help you. repalce the board as card basis.
Replacing it as card basis is fine, rather than making 'surgery' to it.

My 40' vivo tv has turned off and won't turn back on but the red stand by light is on??

If the standby light is on and it does not respond, it is most likely to be a problem with the power supply . First try this, unplug and leave the set like that for a few hours. Then plug it back in to see if the tv attempts to turn on when you try to power it up. See if you hear a "click" even if it goes back to standby. Let me know what you found so that I can help you test the power supply board to confirm, if necessary.

TRY
Unplug receiver.
Leave for 10mins.
Plug in again.
Wait another 10 mins.
Press the hand control stand by button.
In a few minutes the light should turn green and start options should appear.
Good luck. This works when my HD box freezes.

Tv wont come on and a red light is blinking. I have a Sony Wide screen projection TV model kp-46wt520

Can you unplug the TV for about 15 seconds, and then plug back in and watch the stand-by light. Tell me how many time the stand-by light blinks in regular intervals. If it doesn't blink at all, you need to change a fuse on the g-board. Once this is done run back through the stand-by blink light process, and more troubleshooting can be done if problem isn't already solved. If the stand-by light just keeps blinking with a count over ten just tell me, and I'll look for other possibilities.
