Blury after cleaning with alcohol - Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX100V Digital Camera

Try a head cleaning cartridge.

Try taking a cotton swab and gently wiping the lens, using a small amount of rubbing alcohol. The alcohol will clean any dirt or smudges off of the webcam and will not damage the lens. Make sure the swab you use won't leave any fuzz behind.

I don't know what else would work at this point, seeing as I've never heard of a setting/program that blurred the webcam (not saying it doesn't exist), but I wish you luck!

first the obvious: is the lens clean?

the designed throw distance on that model is 5' - 29'. if your projector is outside that, it won't be able to focus. if it is within that distance, reset the settings in the menu to factory default. if that doesn't help, you may have physical damage to the lens assembly.

Try cleaning the battery compartment with a Q-Tip dampened, not soaked, in rubbing alcohol. Then do the same to the battery and the charging station.

This is a tricky process. You will needa soft cloth and some rubbing alcohol and a ventilated area. Use the alcohol on the cloth to GENTLY rub at the mould without rubbing the negative away. The same can be done for pictures that have gotten mouldy over the years. I have used this on some of my slides that had been attack by mould and was somewhat successful, but did not completey remove the mould. I was able to complete the job with my photo editing program.

Unfortunately, a blury negative cannot really be refocussed. To some extent (very limited) you can try to use the sharpening tool in some photo editing software to give bluriness a more focussed appearance. But it is a subjective decision.

Get a screen replacement online? They are quite easy to purchase and find.

If not, in thought this should work if the screen is blury from an object in the DS or something. Unscrew the screws that keep the screen in place as if you are taking it out and replacing it, and wipe the screen clean.

The reason the camera may go off by itself is that battery low. Or, if you don't use it for a while, power saver kicks in.

If it turns off immediately, you may have problem with a short in power switch (if something was spilled on it). In this case, you can try to disassemble the camera, and clean the power switch with Q-tip dipped in alcohol.

It sounds like your lens's focus element is stuck. Given the events you describe it is possible that a grain of sand has worked its way into the focus motor's gearing and jammed it up. Normally the small motor moves the focus optic in and out to achieve proper focus, if its movement is limited or completely jammed you will experience blurry pictures. The camera will have to be disassembled and the sand cleaned out to restore normal function. There are repair providers you can find online who can work on your camera.
