I have an sportsman 700 with the same problem fan is tested to be good right now i have hard wired the fan to the battery with an on off switch and everything is great, but would like to fix the problem. Did replaceing the thermal sensor turn out to be the problem or was it a relay?

There is a sensor on the lower right hand side of the radiator. It is about $75 to replace.

Why will the cooling fan on my 500 sportsman not turn on .?

I have a 2001 polaris sportsman 500 H.O. I have replaced the fan and the thermial fan switch, and checked the thermostat. Everything is either new or works there are no bubles in the coolant when its running I am running out of opptions . If I unplug the thermal fan switch and plug a jumper wire in the fan will run. I thought the new switch was bad and I tested it and it is good

Overheating I have a 2005 sportsman 800. I'm having problems overheating. Raditor is clean, seems like fan does not come on in time.

Is the coolant level OK? Does the fan work at all. Check the fan activation sensor (thermister sensor). Down load, from Polaris, the parts manual (no charge).

My 2004 polaris 700 sportsman atv keeps overheating

make sure you check the thermostat on the radiator, if it does not get signal that it is up to temperature, it will not send power to turn the fan on.

Overheating polaris sportsman 700

you probly need a new heat sensor, its located on the bottom right of your rad, i had the same problem with my 700 the fan only worked when it was already over heating, i cut the wires flush at the sensor drilled a hole above the key switch and mounted a toggle switch, no more over heating,

Cooling fan will not come on

I read somewhere someone had the same problem as you with the fan not kicking on. the guy took his to several dealers and finally got it fixed. he said it was the fan relay. so check the relay for the fan. if it has any mud or dirt in there then you'll get high resistance or even no connection causing your fan to not work and your engine to overheat. I hope that works for you, good luck! :D
