    HELP

  • Deer Lover Apr 26, 2009

I went to the above download on HP as suggested... to get scanning operational since the HP 3050 prints OK...

EZ Install... The download went 7/8 of the way through. The announcement Looking for new devices popped up... Then Please make sure the printer is connected to the computer and powered on... OK... it's on and connected and was before. Then OK preparing to copy ... Copying... Processing... it stops... and loops back to make sure the printer is connected!... several times... Then, finally, installation operation failed...

    What now?

    Thanks.

It looks that you can receive data (eg.scanned) from your MFC but cannot send information to it {eg. reference to 2-ways communications not working):
I suspect that it is a 'Firewall' problem or 'Antivirus' issue: review possible logs and try turning both Firewall and Antivirus to check if they are the problems.

Good luck!

However next troubleshooting comes in picture is software as per you have mentioned that yoiu have downloaded and installed the complete software couple of times still the issue persists.
In that case we need to Programn Scan to option in the printer software and on your all in one.

Power off printer, disconnect all leads such as USB, network, etc and power on again.

Does it power on to the normal state?

Are there any messages on the control panel or light patterns (eg off, on, flashing etc)?

HP LASERJET 3050 SCANNER: ERROR (not set up on pc).

Shirley,

If your still looking for a solution, or to those of you who have a similar problem, the following fixed my problem after trying to resolve the issue over the last year!!!!

I also received the "not set up on pc" message and tried re-installing the software numerous times.

Finally resorted to re-installing windows XP (because of this and other software glitches) and re-installed the Laserjet 3050 software again...but could not get the printer to install.

The problem was occuring while the software was asking to "plug in the usb cable", but would not complete the installation. It was not recognizing the device....the solution was to reset the laserjet 3050!!!!

to reset, push the "menu" button, < (left arrow), go to "service", "enter" button, > (right arrow), "Restore Defaults", "enter" button.
This should reset the factory defaults.

After this, I re-installed software, working!!!!!

Can't scan

This sort of thing can be down to the fact the settings for communication to the printer is separate for printing/faxing/scanning. So you will need to find the scanning device (will usually be called HP3050 regardless, or something along the lines of that) and make sure it's set to communicate through USB and no other means.
