How do I open my mixer to repair the mic input jack

Gemini mixers are a hassle. You should take out all the phillips screws on the front, see if there4 are any on the side panels, and then see if it comes apart. If not, go for the screws on the back panel (the side and front /back ones). Be careful not to take out the one for the transformer (usually a big one or a nut). Peace.

Peavey 3/4/5w crossover and Peavey Compressor CEL-2A

While not familiar with this unit I beleive you are right assuming that
you need to be working with a line level signal(post preamp) not a mic
level signal
there are several ways to do this
I also do not know your board or how convoluted a layout you are willing
to go through
Most boards that people who use compressors own(for live pa) have post
preamp "insert"points
failing that you can put your mic on channel 1 and send its signal to
the comp via the aux buss(not raising the channel one fader, but instead
send the signal out the aux to the compressor, then take the out of the
compressor into channel two(which you will not send any aux singal
from) and use the channel 2 fader as your mix level
or you could route the mic to a outboard preamp then compressor then
mixer input

if you hav e subgroups the mic channel could send out a subgroup to the
comp
the only thing you do not want to do(for live pa) is place the comp
after the main mix out

HI,I have a VMX1000USB mixer and I cannot get any sound when plugging a microphone in any of the rear jack sockets, as opposed to the XLR sockets on the top of the unit. Can you please advise what may be...

The XLR are intended for mic and as such they have the gain needed to use mics.
The connectors on the back are LINE LEVEL connectors. To use a mic with these, you will need to have mic preamps to send adequate levels into the jacks on the back of the unit.

Microphone gos distorted after being used for two hours.(also the unit feels i little warm on the left side near the mic input).

Try a wireless mic system. If the problem persists I would return the unit to Numark. Me personally... I use the idj2 like a CDJ and have it lined into my DJ mixer. There is never an issue with microphones on my Peavey DJ mixer.

Need to know if we can hook a phantom powered microphone to our shs audio amplifier

Does your microphone have it's own built in phantom power? If it's just a regular mic, you should be able to connect into any MIC inputs on your Amplifier. Otherwise, you'll have to utilize a mic/line mixer to provide the phantom power your mic needs. Then you would connect your mixer to the amplifier.

Which SHS Audio amp do you have? The ones that I am familiar with do not have any MIC inputs.

What do i need in a mixer? i want to connect my kaoss pad mini, and kaossilator, and obviously a couple of cdjs, and where do i connect them straight in the mixer or amp, im awaiting my purchase and just...

For dj use, industry standard would be something like a Pioneer DJM600 mixer. 4 channels w/ effects and a mic input. To use kaoss it's best to go into Send/Return input through the effects. By tapping on Send, all sound is sent out to the kaoss pad, and comes back into the mixer into the Return inputs. By doing this you can have the kaoss pad on sitting next to the mixer ready to apply effects all the time. Then connect the master outputs from mixer into your amp, or straight to powered speakers. Kaossilator is more of an instrument than effects unit, so plug in to channel 3 after your 2 cdjs in channel 1 and 2. You still have a spare channel left. I use 2 x 1200s and 2 x cdjs with kaoss pad through effects channel in this way. A 4 channel mixer is plenty.
