Question about Kenmore 22.0 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Filtered Ice and Water
My 22 inch Kenmore side by side is working on the freezer side but was not working on the fridge side. I removed the back panel in the freezer and found a giant block of ice on the coils. I melted it with a hair dryer and things seem to be working fine now. However, I don't know why it iced up like that. I think it has been gradually doing that for years and it finally clogged the air vent in the freezer. Could that be true? Is the thermostat faulty? It seems to be shutting of periodically. I have also seen the defrost heater glowing at the bottom of the freezer. What can I test to be sure it won't ice up again? thanks, Curt
I had the same problem and had to have serveral parts replaced, it was very expensive $600.
