More often than not, ISP's have their own settings saved inside the modem. so if you're going to change ISPs, the settings on your old modem might not work with your new ISP. settings like authentication and username and passwords, they differ among ISPs because they have their own system for authentication, etc. it is recommended that you get a new modem with your new isp.
