Question about Toshiba Satellite M100 Notebook

1 Answer

Recently my Toshiba M100-222 model notebook started to have problems when power cable is plugged in. Usually it is not working when power cable is plugged in, but after I unplug power cable and try it to start without AC power supply it starts to work after four or five resets. And also sometimes while it is working it is freezing, also it freeze when I plug in or unplug the power cable while it is working. And while it is working if I do not start some application as video player or same music player it is freezing after some while.

Your having a problem with the dc jack on your motherboard. What needs to happen is the motherboard needs to be taken out and there will be solder points underneath the dc jack on the motherboard. These solder points need to be resoldered so that way the dc jack stays in place properly. At this point you should be able to hook up your ac adaptor and use your laptop that way.

Fully charged but will not turn on

Hi there.

Did you recently try putting a new battery inside your Notebook? If it's not the same battery model then it won't turn on.
Does the Notebook power on when the power cable is plugged in? If it has no problems while it's plugged in, then the problem is the battery.
Does the Notebook work at all regardless of whether or not it's plugged in? If this is the case then a piece of hardware has likely failed and your Notebook needs to be serviced.

Did you recently install a new piece of hardware into the Notebook? Did you change the RAM or the Video Card? Your Notebook won't turn on if you added the wrong type of Ram. If you added a new video card, some Notebooks can only handle so much video memory.

Hope some of these ideas help.

Pull out the battery and the power plug. Then plug back in the power plug. Attempt to start your laptop. If it starts then the battery is the issue. If not the hardware has failed and you need to contact Toshiba for warranty support or a local tech if it is outside of warranty. -Ravi Shanghavi

Fixing DC Jack for Toshiba Satellite L35 cost how

I believe the L35 uses what is considered a satellite power jack which means the actual jack is not soldered to the motherboard but uses a cable and plug, therefore is the easiest of the power jack repairs. The cable can be found on ebay for around 30 bucks or less. I usually charge 50 bucks for the labor plus the part, the laptop has to be disassembled to complete the repair. Below is a link for disassembly if you want to use it as a reference and perfrom the work yourself.....

Are you using the original charger or a universal replacement? As loose fitting power plug can cause this problem but so can a loose connection at the power jack (repairable) or a cracked trace on the main board from stress at the power jack (not usually repairable - ie needs a new board). JC

Toshiba Laptop wont work unless plugged in, i recently bought a new battery think that the battery was the problem and still it doesnt work unless its plugged in. please help me!

Go to CONTROL PANEL / POWER OPTIONS / POWER METER. Is the battery charged or charging?

If POWER METER says the battery is charged, you have a motherboard problem. Take it to a tech.

Do you have a voltmeter?

Remove the battery and check for voltage at the laptop's battery contacts, while it is plugged in. No voltage = charging circuit defect. A blown internal fuse or other motherboard problem. Take it to a tech.

Voltage OK or no voltmeter - take it to a tech.

A qualified technician should have a schematic and other technical documentation for your model It can be rather difficult (expensive) and hit-or-miss to locate possible fuses without the factory paperwork.

Good luck.

NO POWER ON

Try removing the battery and power cable then holding down the power button for 10 seconds. Reconnect the battery and power cable then press power again to turn on. It's usually a hibernation problem. Some newer toshibas also had a motherboard problem. I'd look up your model on the support section of www.toshiba.com and see if there is an updated motherboard driver install for your make.
