Solution to the most common design...
If you can pull the stopper completely out of the drain with no resistance, do this.
On the back side of the tailpiece that attaches to the bottom of the bowl, there is a rod coming out of the back side that has a nut holding it in. Unscrew that nut and pull the rod out part of the way. There usually is a loop molded into the plastic on the lower end of the stopper where that rod inserts into. Turn the stopper until that loop is aligned toward the faucet and insert back into the drain but not all the way (keep it held up about 1/4-1/2 inch from completely closed). Reach under the sink and feel for the rod while you are holding the stopper in place and push it back in while you "feel" for the loop. You will know it is inside the loop when you can't pull the stopper out with not resistance. Screw then nut back onto the threads and finger tighten it until it has enough friction to hold itself at any position.

Hope it helps...

SOURCE: I took out my Eljer bathroom sink stopper to clean

These connections, as you may have experienced, can be a little tricky.

On the connecting rod at the back of the drain pipe, slip just one end of the ribbon spring over the rod. Then, pass the rod through one of the holes in the drain valve connector. Then slip the other end of the ribbon spring over the connecting rod.

SOURCE: I have a lav sink

if you look under neath your vanity you will see where the plunger goes into the drain pipe. remove it and see if your activator rod is there, if so this is what screws into the plug end. if it is not there remove your U section and see if it is in there and reattach it. if it is broken you will have to get a repair kit at your local hardware store.

Remove stainless pop up stopper from bathroom sink?

Look on drain tail pipe, in the back you will find a nut that holds a ball with a short piece of rod going into drain and along piece of rod that is connected to the closure rod mounted in the faucet . Remove clip and disconnect long rod and pull long rod down to raise stopper./ Hold stopper and unscrew the nut and remove rod. Pay attention on the position of stopper piece that the short rod in inserted thru.

The sink stopper came off on my talia bathroom faucet and I can't get it back on

UNDER THE SINK ABOVE THE TRAP IS A TAILPICE WITH A ROD POINTING TOWARD THE BACK WALL. IT IS HELD IN PLACE WITH A NUT. REMOVE THE NUT. PULL THE ROD OUT. TURN THE POPUP LOOP TOWARDS THE BACK WALL SO YOU CAN PUT THE ROD THROUGH IT.SNUG THE NUT UP AND CK TO BE SURE IT WORKS. FILL SINK WITH WATER AND CK FOR LEAKS.

Clogged drain on moen bathroom sink

There should be a stopper valve on the sink's downspout (the first section of drain pipe). You SHOULD be able to loosen the nut holding the stopper valve's lever inside the pipe. Once you remove that nut, you can pull the lever out - that releases the stopper inside the sink, so you should start with the stopper OPEN, and hold it open with a chopstick or pencil or other tool when you remove that lever.

The lever and the bottom of the stopper itself will be wrapped with masses of hair. That's normal. Clean it up and reinsert it, put the nut back on & snug it down, then readjust the stopper.

If that's not enough, you may need to open the trap (the gooseneck-shaped piece of drain pipe under the sink) to clean it out.

The bathroom drain stopper will not stay closed.

there is a small compression nut on the drain, it needs to be tightened slightly. look under the sink when you pull the lever up close the stopper, you will see where it connects to the drain. tighten that nut slightly.
do not over tighten or you won't be able to move the stopper at all, you just need enough pressure to hold the weight of the lifting rod and stopper in place.

Stopper has dislodged.

Hello. It is probably not broken. In order to fix it, you must go under the sink and above the trap. You will see where the lever for the stopper is attached and can be adjusted. If necessary look under another working sink with a similar set up. Joe

I have a Moen Monticello bathroom faucet. I am

Moving left to right: I am not an expert, but I have installed a fair number of faucets. Seems like a basic issue of just getting under the sink and tightening up. Make sure someone is topside to assure the faucet stays straight and does not move as you tighten up below. It is never easy to get a wrench and your hands in the proper position to tighten up the nut, but don't give up try a smaller Channel lock wrench if necessary.

Bathroom sink needs new drain, leaks under counter

Is it a new sink? Most of the time if it's new you'll have to get more pvc pipe because the new tail piece that comes with the new faucets usually is either longer than before or shorter. Yes you can get another tail piece or you may be able to by a longer pvc piece to to hook up the the metal tail piece. Make sure you have the plastic seals inside the pipe where they attach together or it will leak. Once you have it all together close your stopper and fill the sink with water and then pull the sink stopper and watch for leaks if it dont leak then it wont leak.

Bathroom sink stopper came unhooked and out, not attached anymore

You will need to get under there and unscrew the popup rod located on the back of the drain. pull out the rod, drop the stopper in there and push the rod through the hole in the bottom of the stopper. screw the nut back on.
