Question about HP iPAQ hw6915 Smartphone

Alarm not sounding & notifications not displaying +- syncing

I have had my HP IPAQ 6910 for 18 months. Last week without any valid reason it started not showing the notification to stop the alarm. Now it is not ven sounding the alarm AND also not sounding the alarm for appointments. Yesterday I could not even sync with the cradle/cable but it was charging so the cable is fine.
I would like to solve these issues and probably the first step is a HARD reset which is carried out by pressing soft reset + on/off + ???????

Hi. First of all, I think the hard reset is not the first solution, but it's the last and the absolute solution. But in case if it is needed you can perform it by: The phone buttons + reset & power = hard reset. Firstly, tap the Start and the Settings. There, find the Sounds & Notifications. Ensure that the first 3 of the checkboxes are checked. And select the second tab to configure your notification sounds and vibration settings. After you've done these, you can try to set an alarm and check if your PDA notifies you. If not, you can also give a try to this free alarm application (http://www.ageye.de/download/galarm.cab) for your PDA. If none of these work, you can try to hard reset your device, but you should backup all your data before a hard reset since all the data will be lost after a hard reset. Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem following a system crash. I found out by auditioning the audio files themselves that they were all corrupt. I had to use my backup software to return the device to an earlier state. After that everything appeared to work fine....hope this helps.

IPAQ 4700 hard resetting on its own.


I also own an ipaq 4700 and experienced the same problem. Even after reloading the OS I continued to have this problem. I did buy it refurbished but I fear this may be a common hardware problem. From my research it would appear the battery is the most likely culprit, I have not tried replacing mine but it may be worth a shot, if nothing else you have an extra battery which means less time at the charger :D

Ipaq 4100 problem syncronizing with outlook on new laptop


you are now using outlook 2003 , probably cache , this means all the email is on your laptop. when you sync it will sync all the email (thousands). initialise your ppc (back to factory default). set up the sync via usb cable. then sync via bluetooth . then you are fully sync. now setup an auto backup of your email data (daily). if after some time , you have sync problem again , initialise the ppc, restore from backup and you are back to sync (last full backup). try this , you will never need to do it all again.

Try and reinstall the sync software in your PC. Check your cable if it is properly hooked.

Lying ipaq H5550!


It's a problem with either the memory board or the button board. With my h5550, the bottom buttons started to stop working and eventualy the PPC stoped charging all together. You can find parts for it online. If all the buttons are working fine, then it's most likely the motherboard. Otherwise it should be the button board.

Try soft resetting your ipaq. If that didnt work then try hard resetting it, note that you will lose all the data in your ipaq

Outlook


Check the setting on the ipaq, go to ActiveSync and tools, options, server and make sure calendar, contacts and inbox are not selected here. Then, put the pda in its cradle and let it do a sync, it should change the settings on the desktop and the (sync status on device) should disappear. I had a similar problem and after de-selecting these, everything worked fine.

Soft Reset


Just loaded a safe mode program to my iPAQ, and now it seems to reset without any problems, even when not connected to the sync cable.

Blinking Green Ligh


Yes, this blinking green light is an appointment notification. So if you set up an appointment for September 30th, 2005 at 9:00 AM with a reminder set to 1 day....then on Sept 29th at 9:00AM, the IPAQ will turn itself on and a reminder screen will appear on your IPAQ. After a length of time (the default of which I can't remember now) the Ipaq will turn itself off, but will leave that green light flashing. When you then turn the IPAQ back on, the reminder screen will again appear and you can choose to dismiss the reminder or snooze it.
