The dial on the top does nothing to the flash. It's just a guide, like a simple ruler.

Example:
You just set your ASA/ISO (Yellow Line) to Orange DIN/ASA Number to match your camera's ASA/ISO.
Then just read those Scale of F Stops to outside to get FT/M (Feet or Meter).

The true meter from flash is on Handle of flash:
Set Orange Horizontal Line to ASA/ISO Number to match camera.
Set Left Slider, push up & down, to the F Stop that you wanted to shoot.
You have 6 Auto Sensor F Stops
1 for M (Motordrive)
1 for W (Winder)

Hope they are helpful on all photographers using Metz 60CT-1 Flash.

Truly,

This is a so-called computer flash. This means that a built-in sensor measures the intensity of the reflected from the object (in the central field of viewing angle) and adjust the flash power in accordance with the film and lens speeds. The dial on top of the flash head is a calculator, you have to set the film sensitivity by turning the central dial then, turning the whole disk, set the aperture you wanna yse at the shot. The meter/feet dial on the rim shows the maximum distance the object will be properly illuminated at.

    Typo! Read the second sentence:

What should pwr ant knob be adjusted to?

The PWR/AMT knob:
PWR: Variable RF Output Power. The transmitted power of the Magnum S-6 may be varied from 0 to 40 watts peak in all modes. Rotate clockwise to increase RF output power. Rotate counterclockwise to decrease RF output power.
AMT: All Mode Talk Back. AMT, a Magnum exclusive, is an independent talk back monitor. The AMT functions in all modes and allows the operator to monitor the trans- mitted audio of the Magnum S-6. To increase the vol- ume of the talk back rotate the control clockwise. To decrease rotate counterclockwise. To turn off the talk back rotate the control completely counterclockwise.

Kenwood KA 995 amp. volume control, as you increase or decrease the sound, a loud clicking sound is heard.

Katrina, this sounds like a dirty potentiometer (volume control knob). Try turning the unit off, and exercising the knob. That means turn it full turns, many times, like 70 times. Then try it again with power. Sometimes this helps.

Not sure what i need to use the mecablitz 60 ct-4 w/ my Nikon d-100

I just bought a D100 (as a backup to a D200 - nothing like being up to date with current technology! B^)). As I understand it, there is no integral flash sync connector on them. You need to get an AS-15 accessory shoe adaptor which goes on the hot shoe, and has a pc sync connector (like the D200 has on the side of the main body). Then you use a standard Metz sync cable to attach to that. The Metz 60 CT flashes have a low voltage trigger circuit and so should be safe with any camera.

METZ 60 CT-4 batteries and capacitors

Although you can still get lead acid batteries from Sonnenschein (the original oem manufacturer) for the Metz CT60 units, a better choice are the Lithium ferrite phosphate or Lithium ion batteries, now available on ebay. For example sales8phd on ebay sells a drop in replacement 6 or 7Ah battery with a charger for ~$75. In general these batteries produce more flashes per charge than the lead acid oem batteries, particularly when shooting a lot of flashes in rapid sucession.

Temperature setting is wrong. Stove is about 80 deggrees cooler than what the knob is set at. I am a yooper too.

If you think it is too cool, adjust the thermostat to make it hotter.

To Adjust the Thermostat:
1. Put the Oven Set knob in the OFF position.
2. Press and hold the HOUR INCREASE and the HOUR DECREASE pads at the same time for 5 seconds until the display changes.
3. Immediately, before display changes back, press the HOUR INCREASE or DECREASE pads to increase or decrease the temperature in 5 degree increments. The oven temperature can be increased up to 35°F.hotter or decreased 35°F. cooler.

If the oven adjustment is set cooler than the factory setting a minus sign “–” and the new temperature will appear in the display.

4. Wait several seconds for the control to automatically set and return to its previous setting.

NOTE: This adjustment will not affect the broiling or the self-cleaning temperatures. The adjustment will be retained in memory after a power failure.

To Adjust the Temperature on Models with Only an Oven Set Knob
1. Put the knob in the OFF position.
2. Pull the knob off by pulling straight out.
3. Press and hold the HOTTER or COOLER button for 5 seconds to make the oven 20°F. hotter or 20°F. cooler.
When you are adjusting the thermostat, the following lights will flash indicating where the thermostat will be set when you release the
adjustment button:
OVEN ON indicates the thermostat will be set at the factory setting.
PREHEATED indicates the thermostat will be set 20°F. hotter.
CLEAN indicates the thermostat will be set 20°F. cooler.
4. After you have made the adjustment, replace the knob.

AC Power Supply for Metz 45 ct5

Hi daf4,

I have a circuit diagram for the 45CT-5 and the flash unit as well. The voltage is 360V DC, which goes straight across the flash tube. The top pin is positive, when the notch in the socket is on the right hand side, i.e. towards the back of the flash.

I'm also looking for a circuit diagram for a 45CL-4, if you know anyone who has one.

Regards,

Neil

Metz 60-4 flash takes much longer than normal for the ready light to come on to allow me to take another photo.

It is likely the capacitor in the battery pack. If they are not powered up every month, they dry out resulting in long power up and recycle times. You'll need to get it replaced to rejuvenate your 60 CT-4 to its original spec.
