Kenwood receiver/sub problem

When receiver is in "tuner" mode, the sub works perfectly, bu when "cd," or "cd-changer" mode the sub will not play. Switch back to tuner and it again works.

Re: Kenwood receiver/sub problem

The amp's remote turn-on wire is probably connected to the blue wire coming from the back of the stereo - this is intended for a power antenna, which is why it only works when listening to the radio. Disconnect it from the blue wire and connect it to the blue/white wire coming from the back of the receiver and you should be good to go.

Subs/amps work fine in tuner mode. as soon as i switch it to usb mode the power on the amp is lost and only seems to work on tuner mode.

I own a sony head unit and for each mode it has unique settings to it. For instance I can have my sub all the way up in USB mode, but not have any in tuner mode. Check your manual to see if that is the case.

I just bought a Kenwood KDC-X493 and installed it in my Alero. I hooked it up to an amp and a sub and it only works with the tuner and not and Ipod or an auxilary hookup or even a cd. what is wrong.

Hello jarhead455,

It sounds like the remote terminal on your sub amp is not properly connected. The KDC-X493 has a wire to turn on a remote amp (Blue/White) and a wire for a power antenna (Blue). If the blue wire is connected to the amp remote terminal, the amp will only turn on when the tuner source on the receiver is selected. If the correct wire is connected, the problem is most likely in the receiver.

If the receiver is at fault, not under warranty, and you still want to use it, you can connect any fused 12V+ to the amp remote terminal. A simple way is to jumper a short wire between the power and remote terminals. Wire the jumper through a SPST switch conveniently located so that you can turn it ON and OFF as desired.

Hope this helps.

When volume turned up subs pop then immediatly produce no sound

u might have to turned your amp so u can play both subs your amp might be to small to run both subs at the same time an u gotta play around with the settings on your cd player so when u blasted your subs it has that nice bass to it not that poping sound.

YEs i have a Kenwood X592.And my subwoofers only beat when the tuner is on.when i place a cd or my jump drive in all it does is play the music.the subs dont work

you have the remote amplifier turn on wire hooked up wrong. The power antenna goes off when the radio does... so it will lose power when you put in a cd or go to aux.
install the blue wire labled AMP. or REM.
Problem solved.

Tuner works but when i play a cd it shows that it is playing but no sound comes out this cd player is brand new

Take it back for a refund or replacement, If you have speaker output on the tuner, their is no reason or why it shouldn't give you tunes when you insert a CD.
Regards, Paul
