Problem with Garmin iQue 3600 GPS Receiver

Garmin IQUE 3600 unable to HotSync, Windows XP

I cannot HotSync the Ique 3600. I have looked at the possibilies such as: USB ports all powered on since according to windows XP, USB ports power down. Removed and reloaded software. The IQUE was shut off and idle for about 3 months, but I have reloaded it in the past before with no problem. The HotSync manager is in the bottom right tray, USB Port is checked off. I do not what else to check into. Thanks for any suggestions. The screen message on Ique was "HotSync Problem, check your connection setup and try again. I have "cradle/cable selected on the Ique. Covered that too.

    • I had to reinstall my operating system (Windows XP). When trying to reinstall the Palm Desktop software, when performing the first hotsync during the install, the hotsync does not work....I receive the message that the connection between the handheld and desktop could not be established. Any suggestions?

    • I'm unable to reinstall the Palm Desktop software using the "Setup CD for iQue 3600" because I'm unable to complete the hotsync oprtation. When hotsync window pops up and asks you to push the hotsync button, the iQue sets in the Hotsync mode display "Connceting with desktop using Cradle/Cable" for about 30 sec and then a "Hotsync Problem" message appears on the iQue display. I have tried everyting I can think of including reseting the unit and deleting all data, but nothing works!!!



      Also, is there anyway to save or transfer the address list to the SD card so the data will not be lost when the battery charge goes dead...



      Any suggestions or help will be appreciated ??

    • I've the same Problem .

      deleting re-installing the software nothing happens.

      I see the hot sync-icon in the taskbar.

      when I connect the garmin, and click the hot sync-button , i can hear an "ding" from the speaker.

      but nothing else .

    • Yep, same problem. Even made the mistake of erasing existing detailed maps(US City7) on my ique 3600 thinking that might do the trick,now cannot reload those maps nor any other (trying to upload Europe 8 which I successfully did in advance of my previous trip there in 2006). Things look good up to the hotsync, then when the Hotsync Progress window pops up, the little arrows are zooming back and forth, but everything else seems to freeze. Have left it alone for ages, nothing else happens, Someone help please!

    • I have the same problem. I've reinstalled the software, checked to make sure the cables were intact, and yet I still get can't it the hotsync.

I think I have solved this problem.

Try this:

Go to my computer, right click -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.

Locate your IQUE 3600, or Palm.

Now, if your palm has a Yellow Exclamation mark on it, that means that your computer is not recognizing the Palm. Select
Driver details. Re-install the driver off the "Setup CD" that came with your IQUE 3600.

This worked for me.
