Question about Garmin Nuvi 350 Car GPS Receiver
I have the Garmin Nuvi 350 that I have had for about a year now. A few months back, for no particular reason, the SW Version on my GPS stated that it was 0.00 instead of the 3.00 version that came with it. Now it will not acquire satellites and at start up will say updating software but go directly to the main menu with nothing getting done.
I have gone to the Garmin website and ran a web update on it for the new 6.00 version but it will not install on there when I hook up the USB to it. The installation will say everything has been installed but the "about" section on the GPS says that it is still 6.00 on the SW Version. Does anyone have any suggestions what I might be doing wrong, or if there is another way of fixing this? Thank you all very much!
That's because of the map you have to updata the map and you have to download the quick gps fix

SOURCE: Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS is off
If the GPS is off, you have to go into the settings menu and change it. There should be three settings - Normal, GPS off and WAAS/EGNOS. Choose Normal or WAAS/EGNOS and you should be ok.

SOURCE: Garmin Gps Nuvi 300/350 stopped
I got a solution for this issue - buy a SPI Mini-Hi-Fi speaker - it's to be connected directly to the GPS output, there is no cord or cable, it's very light, sounds pretty well and it's totally affordable (around $10).
I've been used it for weeks, no problem at all!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the problems that cause this are as follows
Battery power is too low recharge or replace the battery
The BAUD rate and PORT are not set correctly.
consult the manual for the right parameters, or use the autoconnect option in the settings GPS where it shows the satellites
The SIIRF chip is damaged ( you hope not!) as this is an expensive repair

I am having the same problem with my nuvi 350 and its about the same age. I read on another post it may need a new battery but you need to send it to garmin. I am going to contact garmin directly.

Fist you should travel around with it, and see if in a different area you get satellites.
It could be where you are at, so this does not mean that in another town or state it won't work.
If you try this and still have problems it could be the unit and you should contact the MFG and send it in for repair.
This is the contact support page I posted below if you need it, its a live link so if you click on it the page will open.
