Question about Garmin Nuvi 350 Car GPS Receiver

SW Version Saying 0.00

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350 that I have had for about a year now. A few months back, for no particular reason, the SW Version on my GPS stated that it was 0.00 instead of the 3.00 version that came with it. Now it will not acquire satellites and at start up will say updating software but go directly to the main menu with nothing getting done.

I have gone to the Garmin website and ran a web update on it for the new 6.00 version but it will not install on there when I hook up the USB to it. The installation will say everything has been installed but the "about" section on the GPS says that it is still 6.00 on the SW Version. Does anyone have any suggestions what I might be doing wrong, or if there is another way of fixing this? Thank you all very much!

Sorry to disagree ghana but your suggested solution makes no sense..... GPS S/W = 0.0 means there is a problem with the flip-up GPS receiver assembly. I've repaired many Nuvi's with this problem. It has nothing to do with the map. The Nuvi tries to update the GPS software each time at turn on but can't because it can't communicate with the GPS receiver and reupload the firmware into the GPS receiver. Only changing out the GPS receiver assembly or troubleshooting to the component level will resolve this issue.

Firmware version 6.0 relates to the operating system, that gives you your menus on the screen. The GPS S/W is the firmware in the GPS RF receiver (SIRF receiver).

The latest OS firmware is 6.0. The latest GPS S/W is 3.0.

If the GPS S/W is saying 0.0 and trying to do an update at turn-on, it is because there is a failure on the flip-up antenna GPS receiver board and the board needs to be replaced. Please see this link on how to get your unit repaired.

SOURCE: Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS is off

If the GPS is off, you have to go into the settings menu and change it. There should be three settings - Normal, GPS off and WAAS/EGNOS. Choose Normal or WAAS/EGNOS and you should be ok.

SOURCE: Garmin Gps Nuvi 300/350 stopped

I got a solution for this issue - buy a SPI Mini-Hi-Fi speaker - it's to be connected directly to the GPS output, there is no cord or cable, it's very light, sounds pretty well and it's totally affordable (around $10).
I've been used it for weeks, no problem at all!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: my garmin nuvi gps is not working, says acquiring

Some of the problems that cause this are as follows
Battery power is too low recharge or replace the battery
The BAUD rate and PORT are not set correctly.
consult the manual for the right parameters, or use the autoconnect option in the settings GPS where it shows the satellites

The SIIRF chip is damaged ( you hope not!) as this is an expensive repair

SOURCE: Garmin nuvi 1350 can't find signal

Fist you should travel around with it, and see if in a different area you get satellites.

It could be where you are at, so this does not mean that in another town or state it won't work.

If you try this and still have problems it could be the unit and you should contact the MFG and send it in for repair.

This is the contact support page I posted below if you need it, its a live link so if you click on it the page will open.;jsessionid=0D1782886E6A3CF9512F8AEE898B8248

Garmins Nuvi 350 - voice interactive lost

I have the same problem with my Nuvi 350. It's only about 2 months old and the sound went. I turned it on the other day to use it and the sound did not sound right, it sounded like the speaker was blown. I turned it off and turned it back on and that was it, the sound was gone. I did everything possible and can't get the sound to come back. I called Garmin and now I have to send it in for repair. I looked around the web and noticed that Garmins have big issues with the sound going on the units. I hope they fix that issue.

Satellite reception

I have being having similar problem as every one else. There is nothing wrong with your Nuvi. Garmin (the company is the problem) they are trying to make you buy a new map--Not Exactly Cheap--Do Hard Reset and solve all the problems.

1) Place a finger (Any finger, middle finger worked for me!) at the left lower corner and turn on the Nuvi unit a message appear saying "Do you really want to start up in maintenance mode?" tap Yes
2) At the Maintenace screen tap clear user data (this will restore to factory condition) and follow the instruction on adjusting your prefered setings.

3) turn it off and Repeat step 1, this time when you get to maintance screen tap on "Clear waypoints" and follow the instruction. Let it sit for about an hour then voila.

Blank screen

I had the same problem, so I hit the side of the Garmin a few times. It works perfectly now. Something inside was unaligned and needed a little force to knock it into place. I didn't hit it HARD.
