Only way is to buy an aftermarket charger. You can usually find them in accessory kits for your psp. The adapter by itself will be are $10, though the accessory kits can also be found for about $10.

Cant find charger and its dead

Try charging off a pc or if you have any old ac adapters with an output of 3.7 volts that would work just splice a male end that will fit into your psp do not go over 3.7 volts or you will fry it

Psp not getting charged..

If you're able to charge your PSP using the USB cable with it connected to your pc, this lets you know the battery in your PSP is still capable of holding a charge.

If your PSP isn't charging using the power adapter there is a possibility that the adapter has malfunctioned and is not supplying the 5v necessary to charge your PSP.

If you're familiar with the operation of volt meter, you can easily check the output voltage of the power adapter by connecting the negative lead of the volt meter to the exposed metal part of the plug that goes into the PSP and connecting the positive to the positive terminal.

The positive terminal will be more difficult to reach becuause it is located in the center of the plug. You'll need a positive probe that has a small enough diameter to fit inside of the hole.

Theoretically you could put a paper clip inside of the hole and then connect the positive lead to it but if you do, you have to take extra care to make sure you don't let the positive and negative leads touch each other.

A better option would be to take your adapter into a store such as Radio Shack and have them test your adapter for you if you're not familiar with the operation of a volt meter.

You just connect the psp to your computer using a usb cable. Then create a folder in your Memory Stick Duo named “PSP“, under this folder, create a sub-folder named “GAME“, under this sub-folder, create another sub-folder named “UPDATE” (Note: all folders name must be CAPITALIZED).Download the PSP 5.51 update file via this link: http://du01.psp.update.playstation.org/update/psp/image/us/2009_0611_148d2a024741df54eacabbc79d9f3014/EBOOT.PBP.Save the file as “EBOOT.PBP” to your desktop then inside the UPDATE folder copy the EBOOT.PBP.Then go to games>memory stick and hit the x button there should be an game press x again to upgrade. The udpate process will take about 10 minutes.Thats all.

Chargind psp

If it’s the 2000 series (PSP Slim), then yes. Connect your PSP system to an available USB port on your computer. Turn on your PSP, then under “Settings“, select “USB Connection”. Your PSP should connect to your computer and start charging. It may take awhile, but it will charge it all the way. Hold the display button (The button with the rectangular shape at the bottom of your PSP) until the screen goes black. This will speed up the charging process and is a good method of prolonging battery life when listening to music or other things.

If that doesn’t work, try looking for an adapter lying around your house that matches the volt numbers. The PSP takes 5V. Most portable CD players use 5V adapters and are usually the same size as needed for the PSP. I suggest using an adapter that matches the volt number and fits without trouble. If the orange light doesn’t come on or the PSP acts weird after charging, I’d stop using the adapter. Ask me any questions if you have any. ;)
