Question about Sony DAV-HDX500 System
I have a Sony Playstation 3 and Sony DAV-HDX500 Home theater system. I have tried two methods of connection
1) HDMI cable from PS3 to TV (An LG 32" LCD) for video, then digital optical cable from PS3 to home theater unit (I've adjusted the PS3 settings accordingly)
2) HDMI cable from PS3 to TV (PS3 set to use it for both audio and video) and digital optical cable from TV to home theater unit.
I have determined all speakers function, as other modes on the home theater system will give sounds (tuner, cds, etc) to all speakers. The Playstation will only give sound to 2.1 channels. Rock Band 2 continues to playing only in 2.1 and no sound comes from center or rear speakers.
Any help with this problem is greatly appreciated.
Optical cable connection in tv is only input and same in receiver it is both inputs.you need to find the right encoding in your receiver mode/set-up

I don't think this has an Optical but a Coaxial connection. You might try a coaxial audio cable not optical.
