i have the same problem. when i originally purchased the tv within two weeks i had that problem and returned it. i have now had the replacement for about a year and a half and just had the same problem. i took it to a sony authorized repair place since i purchased it at circuit city and they told me that the panel needed to be replaced a price exceeding what i paid for it.

Same tv, same problem. It's ridiculous, the warranty expired about 3 months ago, so now I guess we're just s.o.l. I do know that I won't be purchasing another Sony TV EVER.

You probably have a bad main digital video board. I would not suggest a person with prior electronics experience to perform this repair as the set holds extremely high voltages for hours after being turned off.
If you want to try it yourself, you can get the replacement part here

A service manual would come in handy when you are working on something like this. You may want to try searching for one before starting this repair. If you cant find it then let me know and I will guide you with the repair.

This is not a panel issue especially if you can see the sony logo crisp and clear

either the TCON board or the panel is bad. Sony supplies the two parts as a unit so you will have to have them replaced together. Hope it is under warranty because it is expensive

Extremely blue color temperature that cannot be adjusted; some false-contouring artifacts in dark scenes; no picture-in-picture; limited connectivity with just one DVI and no HDMI inputs.
If use as a TV monitor:
The number of colors you can display is controlled by the video card installed in your computer. In order to display more than 16 colors, the proper video card driver must be installed. Contact your computer or video card manufacturer to obtain the latest driver from them.
If you are watching standard-definition or Cable/RF signal on an HDTV, the picture may appear to be of poor quality. This is because the TV is designed for viewing HD or at least digital content. Your best bet would be to upgrade to a Dish Network HD receiver and connect it to the TV with an HDMI cable. Similarly inputting analog signal to TV from your DVD player will not appear to be of great quality. A newer DVD player would most likely have component video output which would look much better. To get even greater quality, an upconverting DVD player connected with an HDMI cable would look the best. You could also upgrade to a Blu-ray disc player, which is capable of playing HD Blu-ray discs as well as DVD's at higher resolution. A less expensive choice could also be a streaming media box. Slow picture and dark reddish tint

These sounds like you have an issue with main board or tcon. Picture slow makes me think this is a communication issue between the tcon and the main board.... This needs a professional diagnostic. The good news is i don't think it is the panel which would make the cost of repair beyond the cost of the tv. If it is in warranty or just out of warranty call sony, sometimes if it is just out of sony's 1 year warranty they will make exceptions. But you need to call them for this exception.
Some solutions are not cut and dried and an on-site diagnostic is best. In your case this is true. I have worked on sony for many years and that symptom (at least the way it is described) is not one I have seen.

I am repairing my sister TV {Toshiba TN61X81}. The original was no picture and with sound. Upon troubleshooting the vertical deflection, ihad move the screen control for all 3 crts to see the horinzontal...

The easiest way I have found to set the screen controls is to tune into an old black and white show, turn the green up until you see retrace then slowly turn it down until it just dissapears then adjust the blue and red for a true black and white picture.

White arched lines appearing on dark/black screens.

it sounds like you are seeing the vertical retrace for all three colors together (white). Its possible that all three screen adjustments (red, green, blue) are off, but I suspect a problem with the screen power supply.
there is also a recall on this set

Dark vertical lines on tv screen

If under warranty then of course use that.
This is a display problem. One solution someone knowledgeable in electronics can try.
This problem can be caused by a bad connection fitting of the flat cables on LCD controller board. Dis-connect the flat cables from the LCD controller(T-CON) and carefully reconnect them. Try the unit before reassembling the back cover. You may have to disconnect/reconnect several times to show improvements if this is the problem.

If you have the images in your computer them click on the 'Add image to your post' instruction and follow the prompts. But from what you tell me this appears to be a CCD problem and the camera should be returned to the vendor if under warranty or contact the Customer support at Nikon other wise. for the camera to be replaced

Picture problem

Usually that symptom is caused by cracked solder joints on the vertical output IC. As the IC starts heating up, the picture starts breaking up at the top with several "dancing" dark lines appearing, the top scrunches down and then when the vertical quits altogether, the screen goes completely black. A good slap on the side of the TV might make it happen faster or clear it up temporarily. If you have experience working on PC boards then you can resolder the pins of the vertical output IC but if you have never soldered parts on PC boards then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.
