Question about Intel D845GRG Motherboard
When I reinstalled windows xp pro. I was missing drivers I managed to install two of them but I cant install the audio Ive tryed dozens of times please help Gateway E 2000
I see you have two posts for the Gateway E-2300.
From time to time software does not install when using the software's *.exe file.
There is another way to install driver software when using windows. Create a folder on your desktop & name it sound. Download the driver file named, Soundmax5240.exe, from Gateway's web site into this folder. You'll need to uncompress the *.exe driver file. You may need Winzip to help you to do that.
You can download the trial version for free. Click on the next link for Winzip; (Download version 9.0);
Once installed open the folder named sound. Right click on the file name " Soundmax5240.exe " & from the pop-up window find winzip & click Extract to here. (All files will uncompress within the folder).
Sound driver link;
Install through windows device manager. (Here's how to do this).
Right click once on My Computer & from the pop-up window click properties. Windows System properties window will open. Click the Hardware tab & than click on the Device Manager button. Look for a yellow pair shaped icon with either a " ! or an ? " in it. You might see unknown PCI device.
Right click once on the explanation point, a window will open & Left click once on “update driver”. Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Left click on the green check mark once & it will go away.
Click the browse button, click the + sign next to my computer. Find the “Sound” folder on your desktop. High-light it by left clicking on it once. Than click OK. Windows will search within the folder & install the correct driver software. If this still fails to install than it is more likely the motherboard has a problem with the Intel chipset.
Enter your bios & make sure the Sound is set to Auto.
