Question about Palm Treo 700w Smartphone

Phone connection issues

Often when I make a call the my phone will connect on my end, but the person I am calling hears nothing. I must hang up and try again. I contacted Palm they said they did not understand, had me do a hard restart and then said if that does not work it would be $199 to fix. I believe they do understand the issues. Can anyone help me?

Re: Phone connection issues

Well, I get this from time to time too and am embarrassed to discover each time that it was my Bluetooth device in my car I was standing next to that locked onto my phone and took over of my mic and audio features of the handset.

It is possible that your Bluetooth features is turned on and locking onto some device that you, at the time, are unaware of. That may be the problem on your end or your friends end as well. Try turning off the Bluetooth feature on both phones to see it it solves the issue.

However, if you hear them but they can’t hear you maybe your mic has a bad connection inside the ph case... once open you can clean the contacts with a pencil eraser and bend the mic contacts up a little and reassemble. You can remove the mic from the ph case and take it apart to clean it, but note the location, orientation and mark the side you can see of the black contact base that is snapped into the rubber mic holding boot. The mic looks like a small watch battery when removed from the rubber mounting boot. It is easy to get it all confused and out of wack if you do not mark things and or even take pictures of it before removal. Unless your ph is really old and you have a very dirty mic opening or know of spilling coffee in it or the like, cleaning the contacts may be all you need to do.

That’s what I know…

I cant make or recieve calls or texts, email is ok, sim card is ok in another fone, when i look under manage connections-services status, it says that voice services are not available and connection is not...

it is something to do with the carrier you are using you should take the phone into an outlet in person and have them rectify the issues you are having.

Person at other end can not hear me when I make a call but I can hear them

There is an issue either with the network or with you phone.

If your network uses SIM cards, try yours in another phone. If the issue persists in another phone, there is a network issue. If the issue does not repeat in another phone, there is an issue with the speaker on your phone and you should consult with your provider (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, whomever) to get a replacement. If your network does not use SIM cards, contact your provider first thing.

Same Problem

Your best bet is getting a new battery! I had this issue at about the 2 year mark and it started out of the blue. The battery would show fully charged and then all of a sudden while I am talking I start hearing some static and then the person on the other end could no longer hear me and the phone would go dead. I would have to take the battery out and put it back in for it to even power back on. When it did power back on (if it would even do so) the battery charge indicator would show red indicating no battery life left. To be certain this is the issue I would suggest keeping your phone plugged in to the wall/car charger while you are using it and see if the static auto turnoff issue happens while it is connected to a power source. It should not disconnect on you while connected.

I also noticed that the battery appeared to be a little "puffy" like one of the cells within the battery itself may have imploded and shorted out if that makes sense. Good Luck.

Seems that your phone might be hooked to a tower that has low strenght.
You might want to turn your phone completely off and take the battery out
for about 2 mins.
Make sure the phone and your Sim card are clean and free of any dust.
Put everthing back together and turn your device back on.
Give it a try next, im sure you will not have this problem anymore if
you do this once in a while. I always keep refreshing my connection and
try to keep my phone clean too all the time, never had a problem. Good luck!

Cannot hear the dial tone or the person on the other end

Your speaker could be going out.  When making a call press the $ button to activate the speaker.  See if that function works.
Adjust the volume with the volume control on the right  side of the as needed.

if this issue persists on speakerphone or not, it depends on if this is a software problem. if they still cant hear you when you put them on speaker then they still wont be able to hear you. if that is the case, contact your provider for a link to dowload the most up to date software.....

if it only works when you put them on speaker phone, contact your wireless provider or RIM (1-877-255-2377) to replace or repair the phone

Phone calls won't connect

I have the same problem with my Verizon treo 755p. It will dial but I can't hear anything from the other end. I can receive calls but when I answer, I can't hear the person on the other end. I guess I need to visit Verizon to have them look at it or give me another phone.

Treo 700w

depending on how you hold the phone this could be the answer you are looking for since your problem only occurs sometimes. see how you hold your phone as you put it up to your ear where is your thumb you might be pressing on the lower part of the screen. this will mute that call. causing you to hear them but they will not be able to hear you. next time you make a call and the other person can not hear you look at the screen and see if the picture of the mic in the lower right hand corner is greyed out if it is press it and it should work. I know this answer sounds silly but it happens to me alot.
