Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC
I think you mean the system tray (the area of the task bar near the clock), which shows program that run automatically when the PC starts. It is important to have as few of them as possible. Click on Start, then Run and type msconfig. This will start the configuration editor. Click on the tab that says Startup. Sometimes it is quicker to to click the disable all button, but I would suggest leaving anything to do with your anti-virus ticked and any applications you use all the time and don't want to start yourself. There is a list and better instructions at http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
