Refridgerator making a rattling noise

Our fridge makes a rattling noise that stops once you open the freezer, I have tried to find the source but cannot, and it does it all the time even when it is not running, and facing the fridge it is on the left side

Re: refridgerator making a rattling noise

We had the same issue and the noise would stop as soon as the freezer drawer would open. There was an ice cube stuck in the maker. As a result the fingers that kicked out the cubes could not turn thereby binding the motor. After the cube was removed, the noise ceased.

Rattle and Gurgling noises

It's the fan bouncing off the fan-motor housing. The best way to stop this is to shim the motor mount so the fan will ride with the motor shaft "out" preventing it from bouncing. When you raise the fridge on one corner you are doing the same thing the shim will accomplish.

The draining gurgling sound is probaby freezer defrost water being pushed down the drain tube into the drip pan at the bottom. The door action pushes/pulls air in the tube and pushes out water.

Whirlpool Fridge Making a rattling noise

There are 2 areas it could be in....The upper area where the evaporator fan is....or the lower area where the condenser fan is..
If it is in the freezer...when you open the door there should be a button that the door connects with that you can hold in manually to make the fan engage..and listen for the noise..the odds are if it were ice build up....your thumping the fridge would not make it stop ..since the thumping would not remove the would continue to build up and the fan would eventually stop completely and everything would warm up. It could be a loose stap that holds evaporator lines in place or a motor mount that is loose ..

Or it could have to do with the condenser fan..where the compressor is.The compressor and condenser coil are located underneath the freezer section of your refrigerator. There is some tubing connecting the compressor to the condenser coil. There is also a condenser fan to cool the condenser. To access these parts the refrigerator has to be pulled away from the wall. If you pull the refrigerator out go slowly and watch the tubing that connects from the water valve on the back of the refrigerator to the water cut off at the wall.
Remove the power from the refrigerator. Remove the lower panel on the rear of the refrigerator. Look inside for anything loose. Locate the condenser fan motor and blade. These are the areas to stay away from when power is applied. Plug the refrigerator back in being careful to avoid the condenser fan motor and blade. Wear gloves to prevent burning yourself on the hot refrigerant lines and try touching tubing and lightly pushing and pulling to see if you can cause or stop the noise.
Generally a rattle or hum is caused by a refrigerant line touching part of the cabinet or base pan. If it is not repaired it may rub a hole in the refrigerant line causing the refrigerant to leak out. If you don't feel comfortable trying to correct it, you should schedule service and let a technician repair the refrigerator.

I hope this helps...please rate me ...thanks The Fang

Zanussi Electrolux frost free fridge/freezer - freezer defrosting

My husband left the freezer door open a couple of months ago, causing ice to form. The loud rattling noise was the fan hitting the ice. The reason why the temperature started to rise but the noise stopped was because the fan had got stuck in a block of ice and was no longer working. Simple solution - defrost the freezer for 24 hours. Touch wood, it is all working fine now!

There is fan in the freezer behind the metal cover. Try to stop the fan, and see if the the noise stops... If the noise stops then its possible that the fan is out of balance. If this is not the case then i would suspect that this is problem with the mainboard.
