Question about Canon PIXMA iP3500 Printer
I would suggest the problem is lack of one of the other colours, rather than an excess of red.
If a "Deep Cleaning" of the heads doesn't fix it, then I have had some sucess with removing the heads and soaking them on a pad of folded tissues soaked with White Spirit or Alcohol for 10mins, pressing the heads into the pad like a sponge, then performing a deep cleaning. (Warning, if you do this, wear gloves and protect the table/bench with something as you will get ink stains everywhere.)
If this sounds more than you're willing to try, then unfortunately only a new print head (which costs more than a new printer) might be the answer.
