Protection on error message

Unit powers off and says protection on

This is usually caused by a short in the speaker cables, or a problem with the speakers themselves. If you disconnect the speakers from the back of the unit, does it still say "protection on"?

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.

Receiver displays "protect" ...then shuts off

From what I have seen..........

Either you have a speaker that is shorting out, Try unplugging on speaker at a time and turning the unit on, and see if it goes out of protected mode. Keep the volume turned low while doing that. Just go by process of elimination. Or you can disconnect all speakers and see if you still get the error message. If not then connect 1 speaker at a time, if it goes in to protected mode while doing a speaker connection then you found the bad speaker.

Otherwise another thing I read a hard reset you should be able to do on the unit is hold down the power button until it display a message that says "Clear All", then hit enter or follow the directions it gives that should reset the alarm code if the receiver will allow it.

Hopefully one of those 2 things will clear your error........

Best I could find out

I would do the speaker test first, usually its a shorted speaker or wire

I have the Samsung HTDS 1000 system and i get the PROTECTION error as soon as I open it. I've noticed that this occurs only when the 13 pin cable from the sub is connected to the main unit. When I...

The protection message appears only when a short is detected. Since you get this message only with the sub connected it means that the sub is shorted and you will have to repair or replace it.
If you decide to repair you should open it and test the electronics - amplifier and power source - of the sub.

My home theater system is showing push power protector on the read out and nothing is happening.

Push power protect is an error message that shows unit got some problem in output amplifier section and protection circuit is activated to avoid further damage.
Local tv repair shop will help you to fix it as unit will take apart and soldering work is also involved to replace bad amplifier output chips.

Error message "Protect"

you can try to hold the stop button down for 5 seconds while the power is off to reset. If that doesn't work disconnect all the cables from the back expect the speaker cables and the power cable. then turn the unit on and reconnect the cables once the unit is on.

Error message: E000004-0401

Probably the copier is iR C5185i
- E004 = Fixing unit protection circuit trouble
-  0401 = Check the connection of the connectors of the relay PCB, the IH power supply, the fixing thermoswitch, and replace the fixing unit (fixing
thermoswitch OFF), the relay PCB, and the IH power PCB (blowout of the
FU261).
In the service mode, clear the error by selecting COPIER > FUNCTION >
CLEAR > ERR.
You need a canon technician to resolve this problem.
