Question about HP 920 Plain Paper Fax

1 Answer

ERROR MESSAGE i just started getting an error message that is not listed in the owners manuel of my fax machine. i keep getting a 'reinsert black ink cartridge' error message even though i never took the cartridge out of the machine. it started about 3 days ago. hoping to fix the problem, i opened the cover, removed the ink cartridge, reinserted the darn thing, and the message keeps coming back. ink cartridge appears to be 1/2 full, or 1/2 empty, go figure. i did powerdown the unit, restart it, and i still get the same error message over and over and over again. i have a feeling it might be the ink cartridge that has failed. i do not have a spare cartridge on hand to test my theory. i was hoping someone out there could explain what the problem might be and a good solution to correct it...

I get the same 'reinsert ink cartridge' message from my HP 920 fax machine. The 51629A cartridge is only 1 week old. However, my 'office staff' decided to shake the cartridge because of light print quality. Ever since the shake, I get the 'reinsert ink cartridge' message. I cleaned the contacts on both the ink cartridge and on the fax machine. Same message. Finally I put in a new cartridge and it works. This senario repeated itself twice within a month. Do you think shaking the cartridge caused the fault.

My message is wrong black ink cartridge. It is an HP 29 which is the right cartridge. I took it out, cleaned it off, then tried a new one. Unplugged fax and tried again. Still no help

HP Premium C309 All-in-One Printer error message "C2FE0065"

I had a similar error (not the same! C2FE0100), and cleared it up with the following procedure:
1) While the HP logo was displayed on the screen, I unplugged the printer. 2) Plug the printer back in. 3) Immediately open the printer so you can see the ink cartridges. 4) Press the power button at least once. If yours is like mine, you see the error just by plugging in the printer, but it takes a minute or so. Pressing the power button for me just caused it to restart the boot sequence where I could get the error again. 5) Wait a couple of minutes. You should see the ink cartridge carrier move back and forth several times, and the screen will display a message telling you the ink access door is open (or similar). 6) I let it move the ink cartridges around for several minutes, but this probably isn't necessary. 7) Close the printer back up. 8) About a minute after closing the printer, it told me that I shouldn't turn it off by unplugging it, and that I should use the power button. 9) I pressed the power button once, and it shutdown. 10) I pressed the power button once, and this time it turned on without any error messages.
I was able to print a photo via bluetooth from my phone, and a short document from my computer, so it seems to be working OK.

No cartridge

A “No Cartridge” error message on 1960c products is caused by third-party (non-Brother) ink cartridges
leaking ink onto the Ink Sensor PCB and shorting out the cartridge sensor. In order to resolve this issue, a new
Ink Sensor PCB will need to be installed.

Keep getting replace yellow ink cartridge error message

Hi,

Where did you get the error message on printer or computer?

If you get the message on printer remove all cartridges and reinsert the cartridges and align the ink cartridges. If the alignment page prints successfully then the problem is resolved.

If you get the message on the computer disconnect the usb from computer. uninstall the software and reinstall the full feature software by selecting connect USB later.

Alram light

Did you replace the Black ink cartridge or the Color cartridge, or did you replace both?

Facing the front of the Canon Pixma MX310, did you install the Black ink cartridge to the left side, and the Color cartridge to the right side?

Do Not reverse how the ink cartridges go. Do Not install a Black ink cartridge, in the Color cartridge holder.

If the Alarm light came on, check to see if you have an error message in the LCD. (Not trying to insult your intelligence. The LCD is the little rectangular Liquid Crystal Display on your Pixma MX310 Operation Panel, to the left of the numeric buttons)

Do you have the Pixma MX310 On-screen manual?
Start>Hover on All Programs>Canon>Pixma MX310>On-screen manual

Click on the Troubleshooting heading.
If you have an error message code, click on the heading ->
An Error Message is Displayed on the LCD.

Also suggest you click on the heading -> Problems Sending Faxes.

See if the information provided has a solution to your problem.

Ink problem with Brother Fax 1860C

The machine detects the ink by shining a light through the rib in one edge of the ink cartridge. Apparently yellow is close enough to nothing at all, that the sensors get a little out of whack. Here's how to reset the sensors:
  1. Get a dinner plate or something to set the ink cartridges on, that won't absorb ink, and is easy to wash.
  2. Unplug the machine's power.
  3. Open the machine and remove all four inks, setting them on the plate.
  4. Close the machine.
  5. Plug in power.
  6. The machine will begin it's start-up procedure and complain about the missing inks. It will tell you to replace one specific ink first (black, I think).
  7. Follow the instructions on the display, installing one ink color at a time. When all four inks are in, it should be OK.
Use Brother inks. They have a little black floater in that rib, and some of the aftermarket inks have had a problem with the floater sticking.
There may be another problem causing this. The ink may really be low, or the sensor board may be off its mounts in the machine. But the routine above is quick & easy, and it fixes the problem more than half the time. You can't run without any of the colors, because that means air bubbles are getting into the ink tubes, and that can lead to dried ink blocking the nozzles.
This is unrelated, but when you peel the sealing tape from the bottom of the ink ctg., do it slowly. Brother has found that sometimes, when you strip the tape off too fast, a little glue remains stuck in the nozzle, blocking it. If that happens, dig the glue out carefully with a pin & it will be fine.

Does your unit have a printhead cleaning manager. Do this a few times. Check to see if you have to reset ink levels too.
