I have a 2g surf running Linux. I currently have no sound. This happened about 2 months ago and I was without sound for 2 days. It then came back mysteriously and worked until about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I turned on my computer and there has been no sound since. All the diagnostic tool does is confirm that no sound was heard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Download Google Chrome" (without the quotes). Download and install Google Chrome from Google's website. You can click on the link below to actually download and install it from their site.https://www.google.com/chrome
Linux is a free distributable operating system. You can download and burn it on disk like Ubuntu. You can go ahead and install the OS on your computer once again. The installation of Linux is very easy and you can go through the wizard and complete it.
Hi, which os are you wanting reinstall. If it is xp , then do you not have the original copy. If it was Linux/ubuntu then this is free and can be downloaded. There is this link which may help- http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?model=Eee%20PC%202G%20Surf/Linux&SLanguage=en-us
You should find all software and update on there that may install like it used to be , but not with xp. You cannot just take an OS from one and put it on another, it is Illegal and will infringe on licence issues with microsoft. If you need more help, please ask.
Unfortunately Xandros is a paid (yes, you have read correctly , PAID) Linux distro. You will have to pay to get a Live-USB to reinstall. Instead you should go here http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,46097.0.html and follow the instructions to create your own PCLinuxOS (the one i use) Live-USB. You will need another pc for that. After booting from it all you're gonna have to do is to click on the Install icon on the desktop.
