Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook

1 Answer

Speakers stopped working, quick touch button stays red.

Was working great, then it happened. The speakers won't work. The quick touch button (next to vol. control) is now always red, but it works with the head phones pluged in. Anyone have an Idea?

Thank Dave

Bose Cinemate remote stopped working

Ive had the same problem, basically happens anytime we lose power or if it gets unplugged. Great speakers, poor design. Im not having any luck this time. Gonna try leaving it unplugged longer, like days this time. The remote feels like the problem, any button just causes the TV/VCR/AUX/ect row to blink, can't program it or anything. Seems like this is a common problem

I have no sound from one channel. I have swapped speaker leads (sound just swops with the speaker). I have taken lead out of CD player and touched ends of leads for "earth hum". Only get hum on...

If the sound stays with the speaker, then the problem is with the speaker not the receiver (unless I misunderstand). You state that changing the speakers that the sound stays with the speaker. This means that both channels are producing sound, it is the speaker which is defective. You can verify this by using a 9V battery. Quickly touch the leads from the speakers to the battery. You should hear a pop or click. If the speaker is defecive, you won't hear anything.

Let us know what happens.

The internal speakers on my ipod touch don't work

As far as I know, the sound quality coming out of the ipod is not so great to begin with. I have an iPod touch, and the speaker I have right now was only $12.59 and the sound quality is great. plus I have my headphones from UxSight. They are amazing. Here is the link: iPod speakers

Won't stay on, turns off by itself

With a 1.5 Volt Dry Cell (AA Size), connect two pices of wire with the Cell. Momentarily touch the wires with speaker several times. It should produce click sound when wires are touched. If not then speakers are defective and need repair. Do not touch the wires for more than a second, touching the wires for a long time may damage the speakers.

Kenwood dnx7100 in protect mode

Hi,

Your receiver is detecting a problem in the speaker wiring and is going into protection mode. If the receiver shuts off due to volume level, this can be caused by a poor connection, damaged speaker, insufficient gauge wire, or connecting multiple speakers to one speaker output. The connections at the receiver and speaker should be clean with the ends of the wire twisted tightly, preventing any strands from missing the terminal. Connecting two sets of wires together to add distance should be done with terminals and insulated to prevent the wires from touching each other. If using thin wire, replace completely with heavier gauge wire; do not add to the existing length. Be careful not to push the speaker wires in too far, this will cause the speaker terminals to grip the insulation and not the conductor. The speakers being used must have an impedance within the range listed next to the receiver’s speaker outputs, normally between 6? - 16?. The impedance of your speaker should be listed behind the speaker itself.

If problems continue, disconnect the speaker wires from behind the receiver and power the receiver on. The receiver will shut off quickly if there is an internal short and would need to be serviced if this happens. If it stays on, try connecting the speakers one at a time. Replace any speaker that causes the receiver to shut off.

Thanks.
