You can set up a security code to lock your Nokia 6288 keypad in case a thief tries to call from your stolen phone
Published on Mar 14, 2007
You can set up a security code to lock your Nokia 6280's keypad in case your phone opens in your pocket and calls one of your contacts, annoying them and potentially running up a huge bill.
The code will also stop a thief from using your stolen Nokia 6280 to run up a huge phone bill before you can alert your network provider.
To set the security code, click Menu > Settings > Phone > Security keyguard. You'll be prompted for the Security code. By default this is 12345. Enter this and press OK. Select On and click Select to see the message 'Security keyguard activated'.
Now when you slide your phone shut and press Lock, you'll see the message 'Keypad locked with security code'.
When you slide it open, you'll be prompted to enter the security code. Type your code and click OK to activate your keypad.
Of course, if any potential phone thieves are reading this, they'll now know the default security code is 12345.
To change the security code, go to Menu > Settings > Security > Access codes > Change security code. When prompted, enter your current security code and click OK. The enter your new security code (a PIN between 5 and 10 digits in length), click OK and enter the new code again to verify it. Click OK and you'll see the message 'Security code changed'. Hope this helps.
Probably the answering system is set to Announce only. (This gives the outgoing message but will not record messages.)
To change this (using the Uniden that I know), press Menu/OK on the handset. Use the Redial or Phonebook buttons to navigate the menu to AM Operation. Press Menu/OK and then navigate to Msg Length (as above). Press Menu/OK and choose the desired message length (the choices are 1 Min, 4 Min or Announce). Press Menu/OK to save the setting.
I think sending message out has nothing to do with the phone but rather the service provider that you are using. The problem may be as a result of wrong message settings. Since the phone in question is Nokia, simply go to the menu on your phone, then select messages, scroll to message settings, then go to text message settings, check whether the Message Center No is correct (you can call the customer care of ur service provider to request for the correct message center no.) Save the correct number and exit from the message settings after configuring the necessary things. You can then send out your text message to see whether it will send. I hope you find this information easy. Try that first, but if you cant get the whole process you can take it down to the customer care of your service provider for help.

Try delete some bookmarks and unwanted stuff from your phone memory (I mean, free-up some phone memory) and try. If it do not work then, You should reset your mobile to factory settings first, then reset your MMS settings asper your operators instruction.
