Yeah it can. There are thin copper leads in it that scrape across plates. They can get hot and bend loosing contact.

You could have bad bulbs or need a new cluster.

You should have it put on diagnostic scanner to tell for sure. system needs to be tested. As a mechanic myself, I know these can be done fairlty easy on most vehicles but some can be slightly tricky

Go tothe libary and get one there your problem is the locking hubs are sticking and need to be lubed.

And you will need a Wire harness... Metra #GMRC-LAN-01
And a mounting Kit Metra #99-3305
And antenna adapter Metra #40-cr10

This is for the basic radio... if you have upgrade NAV/Onstar/Premium sound.... there are different wiring harnesses available.
