Acer Aspire One netbook will not boot up

I have an Acer Aspire One ZG5. I got it about a month ago. It is a netbook, not a normal sized laptop. Ever since I got it, the audio would glitch, make a weird noise and freeze my computer. Then it would go to a blue screen saying it was dumping physical memory, then I would have to reboot. I took the audio drive (by realtek) off of my computer and went without sound for a few hours until my step-dad had came home from work. While the audio driver was uninstalled, my computer ran better than the first day I had it. My step-dad told me to put the realtek driver back on my computer, so I did. Immediately, it started acting up again. I left it on there for a couple weeks. Now, today, it glitched and made the blue dumping physical memory screen come up again, but the computer will not boot up. I can't get safe modes, debugging, last configuration, or anything to load. I can only get the boot menu and set up screen to load. I played with the menus I had and figured out that the audio driver is part of boot up, but I also found out that it is failing, the screen says to check cable. I disabled the network boot, and that seemed to take it off of my boot menu. But the computer still wont boot up. Also, in the set up utility, it says total memory is 1024MB and the video memory is 8mb. But according to my computer while it was booted up, I was only using 8-10% of my hard drive space. Nothing about this computer makes since right now, please help.

Hi

The laptop is still new and should be under warrenty youre best bet is to take it back and let them repaire it, if you open it youre self and try to fix it you will loose youre warrenty, however if you want to repairityoure self then i would suggest checking out the ram by either inserting a nother set of ram and taking that one out just to test or by using a util like mem test. its odd that it gives you that message but you complain about the sound drivers if it is the case then you will need to get a more updated version of the drivers and install them when you get into windows again. you can also try doing a windows repair

According to the Acer Support web site the Aspire One cannot boot from a SD card so you will need to give more details of exactly what problem you are having when booting this netbook.

You're going to need to boot it from the Windows XP installation disk, which means if you don't have a CD drive you'll need to get an external CD-ROM drive. This will fix the problem.

if the screen has blacked then im affraid it has died you will be better off buying a new one

You should contact Acer. They know they have a display problen with the Acer Aspire One that can be fixed with a BIOS upgrade. We got our done. They sent us a USB thumb drive with the files and instructions on how to boot the thumb drive. After a couple of minutes the Acer restarted and all is fine.
