Our Thermador triple oven (SMW272) has the same 'dim display' problem.

The display is now unreadable and Thermador customer service offered to send replacement parts for $220.00. If many other people have this problem, Thermador should fix it on their dime....

I have the same problem and was just quoted $ 550 by the girl at the local appliance repair shop. She knew the problem, solution, and cost immediately. Clearly very common.....

My thermador has the same problem as well. I looked on here to find out the problem, and everyone else has the same trouble. thats a joke hope we can figure out a better solution.

My display has gone so dim I can't read it.

  • jitlonas Jan 04, 2009

What gets me really mad is that when you go to the Thermador parts site and enter the model you want you get a part for, you get a totally different item that is not even related to the model or part you want!!!

  • rockwalker Feb 23, 2009

Ditto.  Same problem.  I have replaced my display and the replacement display has gone out as well.

  • susunche May 08, 2009

I have the same problem: Dimmed control panel.

I know my friend has the same problem.

Isn't "Thermadore" responsible to fix it?

  • realhelp May 20, 2009

Same here> They asked $500 every time when you called them and the problem still came back without be solved. Looks like Thermador are not responsible for this product and their service to buyers after they sold them. Should we all suit Themador??

Have 2 Thermador ovens, SMW272 and SC302. Both have display failure. Just repaired one with replacement display. It did not require a new control unit or harness. Have not opened up second unit yet as display is still dimly/slightly visible.

Called Thermador and received no offer of replacement parts or service. Numerous other web reports of similar failures. My neighbor has 2 dead ovens also unfixed because of outrageous repair estimates ($600 each). Do not recommend this brand.

Full kit including display, control, and harness ordered on Ebay for $170.

Double check each connector to be sure it is installed (aligned on pins) properly. Also check wiring diagram for a safety limit thermal switch. If it has one, push to reset it.

Thermador model scd302t4 double oven, It appears my problem is pretty common. the display is very dim. i think the control board needs replaced, the part is no longer available. thanks for any solutions....

Welcome to FixYa.

The issue with these displays is they lose their intensity over time because of the fluorescent tube technology they use, hence the only remedy is to replace the control/display kit...the display only is not available, but a "kit" is.

You can find these "display kits" at "" and similar to what I've attached here...

**Your other option, and the one I recommend, is to have the existing display and control rebuilt...the down side is this will require the parts to be removed and sent away**

Here you'll find all the info pertaining to this option by clicking on the link I've provided below

Hope this helps move you forward. Let me know if I can assist you further and good luck.

I am getting an F64 on my thermador electric double wall oven after a few minutes of preheating my upper oven, and the oven turns off. What des this mean?

Hi, i found out from Thermador customer service that error code F64 means that the lower fan switch (located inside the bottom trim on the right side) is not being detected as closed. In my case, this was because the header (P4) on the Display panel had broken loose from the PC board and was no longer making contact. P4 is where the lower fan switch wires connect to the control boards (actually the display panel).

The LED control panel on my Thermador double oven is out

I solved this. Its a vaccum flourescent display. The voltages that drive it are reducing because the capacitors on the control board deteriorate with temperature. Replace the 3 capacitors and its good as new.mine still working after 2 years...$.20 at radio shack...or have a repair place do it for you...saves $250 for a new board

Thermador SC302 double oven the top oven is not getting hot

We've had the same problem. I contacted a local sales room and they contacted their rep who promptly mailed the replacement parts I requested (I'd looked up the part numbers already). Now I'm waiting to find someone who will reasonably do the work.
