Question about Magellan GPS 310 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Not tracking I have a magellan 310 about 6 or 7 years old which I havnt used for 2 years. Now it wont hold the correct time or track satellites. Ive downloaded the manual and cannot find a way to reset it. Tried new batteries ( no change). Has it become a bit of techno junk???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ian

Reset the unit by clearing the memory. Hold the RIGHT ARROW key and press the POWER BUTTON, while holdingthe RIGHT ARROW key until the DELETE MEMORY screen appears. Select YES and press ENTER. Then procede to initialize the GPS. Leave it outdoors for an hour or so to acquire satelite feed.

Magellan Roadmate 1412 won't track satellites

It might mean that the signal is disrupted. Might be a software glitch. Try going outside, get a clear view of the sky. Then reboot/reset the unit. Hold the switch to the reset position or off position for 10 seconds, it will shut off. then switch it back on. It should reacquire a signal within 2-5 minutes, then it will fix on your position. If that doesn't work, try updating your software. Call Magellan Tech Support for instructions.

I have a Maxx Digital explorer GPS .It keeps reading "unable to locate Satalite".Any Idea's?

You should be able to set it to track more than one satellite, my garmon can track up to 20 at a time, and it's over 5 years old. Go into your satellite settings and see how many satellites you are currently tracking. Also if you are having extremely over cast conditions this coud happen, but should clear up, eventually. Try setting it to track the maximum number of satellites and see if this resolves your problem.

When I turn it on, it is looking for satelites constantly and never locks on to one. I have done the reset numerous times. I have not used this for over a year. The batteries were removed and it was stored...

Since the batteries were removed, the unit loses its memory in 20 minutes so that the GPS now has no idea where it is on the planet or even the time and date.

SO, it likely needs to be initialized.

Here is the owner's manual, initialize procedure is on page 4.

Hopefully this'll get you back on track.
Good Luck!

Need key code for kenwood receiver kdc-mp228

There are a few types of override procedures for Kenwood.
Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 3
Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.

Enter your number from the remote control unit. Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key

I Experienced the same problem the last two weeks. I read your suggestion about the right key/power button. The GPS asked me wheter I wanted to clear the memory yes or no. After "yes" i had to reenter my country and date/time. After doing this it took gps310 more than an hour to get its first fix. But it works again.

Unit will not acquire the satellite signs

FYI ....My Roadmate 760 would not aquire a signal, I went to diagnostic screen and found it was detecting/tracking 0/0 satellites. Held the plugged in unit out the window and within 10 seconds was tracking 7 satellites! Turned out my 1999 Olds Silhouette Van has a anti-glare filter inside the factory windshield that blocks GPS signals. My wifes 2001 Chevy Impala also has same type filter. Check your windshield, filter is visible inside glass to within about three inches of edges of glass. Worth a look.
